Publisher's summary

From the bestselling author Ben Alderson comes a fantastical and spicy reimagining of the Hades and Persephone tale. King of Immortal Tithe is a standalone in the Darkmourn Universe.

Human. Arlo Grey will do anything to fend off the sickness that longs to destroy him. To uphold the promise he made to his parents, ensuring the protection of his sister from the world and its dangers. Especially if the dangers come in the form of elves from a realm beyond that of the human world.

Elf. Faenir Evelina is scorned for the murder of his family. Forced by the bitter Queen to partake in the Choosing, he discovers a single person who can resist the deadly grace of his touch.

It has been many years since the vampiric disease spread wildly across Darkmourn, making humans a rarity. And protection from the undead comes at a cost, one that Arlo is forced to pay when he is stolen by the Prince of Death.

Arlo finds himself tangled in a web of secrecy, family politics, and unbridled magic when he comes face to face with the impending doom . . . his truth.

Contains mature themes.

Fun and Steamy

I loved it, it was fun, hot, and I really liked the characters and their story. This was the kind of m/m romance I was looking for and Ben delivered one again ❤️ ❤️‍🔥

A fan fiction for a world still in the authors head.

This is a standalone novel in the series. The voice acting is really interesting and distinct for each character.

My real issue is with the plot and the in the rules of the fantasy. Something’s were done to just rush the characters to bed. Honestly alto went from hating his kidnapper to bedding him real quick. The politics of the world were interesting, but not well thought out.

Honestly, I rolled my eyes in the final act when the big bad reveal themselves but I don’t want to give spoilers.

Like I said, this book would be a great fanfiction for a more developed series.

The performance would be better if it had a fullcast

The performance needed the full cast to do the book justice
Example like the Sandman audiobook

Lots of Improvement

I was pleasantly surprised at how much Ben Alderson's writing had improved throughout this book, lots more detail and better relationships. The voice acting was also 10 times better, thank goodness. Enjoy another read, A.

A wonderful surprise

I am.always skeptical of books that get recommended to me on tiktok, especially queer books which are oftenmore trauma fantasies than romance. This book was tender, hot, tasteful, and left me with a wide grin on my face.

Dark and Spicy

I loved how rich and realistic the characters were in their motives and thinking. The story was both dark and sweet, with plenty of spice!

who do I cheer for?

ok I like the premise. and the story was nice but the protagonist was more like a villian. drinks vampire blood, told his lover to get the crown even though he never wanted it the first place. This story started so slow but the ending was like a bullet.

*****spoiler******
I can't believe everyone died in the end. and Arlo became a vampire. that was totally out of left field. what a twist and honestly made me question if they were heros or villians. I still don't know. I like the first one better
