Ironworker Wayne Colson and his spirited wife Carmen are witnesses to a shakedown scam — witnesses who must be eliminated. Enter Armand Degas (a.k.a. Blackbird), the brains of the operation, and his partner Richie Nix, an ex-con whose highest goal is to rob a bank in every state. After the Colsons enter the Federal Witness Security Program, a lively chase ensues — with two bumbling but determined killers on Wayne and Carmen's trail.

With its dead-on dialogue, memorable characters, and absolute authenticity, Killshot is one of Elmore Leonard's all-time great novels.

And superbly narrated by Ron McLarty. I’ve listened to many Leonard’s, and McLarty is right up there with Atkins Howard (e.g., “The Hot Kid”). As usual, Leonard beautifully draws his characters, with a lowlife murderous punk and a Mafia hitman on one side, and a happily married working class couple on the other. Highly recommend.

Another superbly written Elmore Leonard

Fun little yarn but lacking depth... really missing the mark in some areas where story development could have benefitted the listener.

predictable

Loved the story, loved the characters, loved the voice, perfectly read in every way. Only thing that was a bother, the volume of the reader wasn't consistent. Sometimes seeming far away, and I had to turn up or turn down the volume to accommodate.

Thrilling.

pulp with a decent amount of fun to be had. couldn't really get behind any of the characters. I wound up liking the bad guys better than the good guys. Good dialog; a strength of Leonard's. I liked the narration.

No likable characters

One of the best mysteries I’ve ever come across and I’ve read many. Leonard is a brilliant writer and the characters came alive. So many telling details. So much suspense. Holds together brilliantly. Bravo.

Stunning. So well done. Narrator was great.

The narrator does a good job, but the story is pretty flimsy and mundane. I wouldn't recommend.

Just average.

Perfect, every detail in place, the master takes his time and tells the whole story.

Early Leonard

I like his work, but these characters are boring and annoying. it's like a bus ride filled with whiny cruel stupid people . all this with muddy audio. I gave up.

I tried

For some reason, the quality of the recording isn't good at all in some places and is quiet even at full volume. This doesn't ruin the book at all, but it's a tad irritating. Great book otherwise.

Great book with one annoyance.

The sound quality wasn’t great, but the narrator still does a good job. The story is still great, one of Elmore’s best. Definitely worth a listen

The book is great, the audio on this isn’t
