Publisher's Summary

Fifth grade was the worst year of Marc's life. He stunk at gym class, math was too hard for him, the school lunch was horrible, and his class field trip was ruined because he couldn't swim. But what was the most awful thing about fifth grade? Kenny Williamson, the class bully, who called himself the "King of the Jungle".

When Marc's mother tells him that his uncle Jake is coming to stay for the whole summer, Marc can't wait. Uncle Jake is a for-real super-cool Navy SEAL. And Uncle Jake has a plan.

He's going to turn Marc into a warrior.

Becoming a warrior isn't easy. It means a lot of pull-ups, sit-ups, push-ups, squats, swimming, eating right, and studying harder than ever before! Can Marc transform himself into a warrior before school starts in the fall - and finally stand up to the King of the Jungle himself?

    "Thank you Jocko"

Thank you Jocko, for everything. Also, my wife was 9 months pregnant and I gave her some white tea to drink. All of sudden her water broke, but instead of going to the hospital she just started doing burpees until she delivered a healthy strong boy, who then also started doing burpees.

    "REQUIRED READING"
Where does Way of the Warrior Kid rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This one is at the top. Look, it's a "kid's book" in it's format, but it's also an excellent distillation of what Jocko (and Leif) put forth through their work: Echelon Front. Also, what Jocko is getting at so often with his podcast. If you have sons...scratch that...children, this should be required reading.

What other book might you compare Way of the Warrior Kid to and why?

    Can't think of one

Which character – as performed by Thor Willink and Jocko Willink – was your favorite?

Mark all the way. Couldn't have been better or meant more to have Thor Willink read the part.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I think it's Jocko's job to come up with that one.

    Any additional comments?

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent. If you have children and anything remotely related to self-esteem, discipline, respect and responsibility are important to you, read this to your kids.

    "Not just a kid's book."

While I would recommend it for kids this 39 year old kid got a lot out of it as well. Inspiring and a tale a lot of us lived as kids.

The only downside of this book was the short length but totally worthwhile.

    "Get after it!!!"

This is a great book for any parent or child. It shows how a little guidance can bring out the warrior that that is inside all of us. Jocko's son, Thor did an awesome job reading his part of the book. Jocko did a great job as well but his voicing of the female parts made me laugh!!! Well done gentlemen!

    One of your troopers, out!

"Didn't know this was a kid book... Still great."
    Any additional comments?

I didn't realize this was a book more oriented towards children until about 3 minutes in. Haha. Regardless, it's still a good read for how long it is. Gave me a little more motivation to better myself.

Incredible work. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed the book. My boy has written his own warrior code and has been living by it. He also has been inspired to pick up the pace in his workouts. I especially liked the fact that father and son made this audiobook.

"Good Book. Good voice by Thor and Jocko."

The cuts between Thor's voice and Jocko's voice was jarring. However, the story and lessons shine through. Good.

"Excellent book with simple, profound life lessons."

Even though this is written as a book aimed at kids, I really enjoyed reading and learning the life lessons taught in this book.
