Publisher's Summary

Lately, Mel has been worried about finding enough historic renovation work to pay the bills. But while Turner Construction is in need of a project, Mel's boyfriend, Graham, has his hands full managing the reconstruction of an ancient building shipped over from Scotland. With the job plagued by rumors that the stones are cursed, Graham brings in Mel to look for paranormal activity. And while the ghost of a charming Scottish clansman does seem to be hanging around the site, the real shock comes when they stumble upon a body. When the original construction crew starts running scared, Mel brings in her team to finish the job. Now all she has to do is nail down the killer and put the spirits to rest before anyone else winds up heading for the highlands.

Another great addition

I love this series. It combines an entertaining mixture romance, mystery, construction info and ghostly interactions. I like how Mel approaches each ghostly appearance with enough modesty to know she still has a lot to learn and is not an instant expert. I also enjoy the interactions between Mel and her family and friends. I look forward to the next books in this series.

The BEST of the Haunted Home Renovation Series!

If you could sum up Keeper of the Castle in three words, what would they be?

Fun light story

What did you like best about this story?

Juliet Blackwell has written a really fun Haunted Home Renovation series and this is the best book yet. The plot about the reconstruction of an ancient castle captured my attention quickly.

Any additional comments?

Juliet Blackwell's series about Mel, a lady construction contractor who seems to be able to see and sometimes talk to ghosts, are fun reads. They are light and do not delve into the gruesome black areas that many ghost stories do. Its a great entertaining light read. Even my husband has enjoyed the series!

Think "Ghost Busters"

Juliet Blackwell always keeps you guessing. I love ALL of her series which are all paranormal (ghosts). This series showcases a woman working & a boss/owner of a business in a mans world. If you liked "Ghost Busters" you will like this series.

Lovely female ghost in Scottish castle

When I read that construction manager Mel Turner's boyfriend Graham was involved in the reconstruction of a Scottish castle in California, I knew Mel would be involved sooner or later. Within the rising walls of the castle, construction workers were being scared away by a mysterious woman in red and chased by a knight in armor.

Mel was called to visit the site because of her sensitivities to ghosts. Since the site was in Marin county and a long commute from home in San Francisco, Mel was invited to stay over at the owner's plush mansion and retreat where he gave motivational talks and workshops.

Mel discovered a beautiful but intensely sad female ghost in a round room. Mel also witnessed a male Scottish ghost attacking or chasing anyone who approached. When the knight saw Mel approach the woman, he began his chase but stopped when he realized Mel was not a man. After long talks with many other witnesses and experts alike, Mel discovered what motivated the ghosts. Avoidance of the round room quieted the ghosts immediately.

Mel watched construction and made many helpful suggestions. So many that when the current contractor left the job, Mel and Turner Construction were hired to take over. This put Mel farther from home when trouble struck. Could she go ahead with so many hands out-stretched to her?

I am immensely enjoying watching Mel grow and morph into the strong adult woman she already is but only now is she allowing her own opinion join with the others. Her extended family also supports her. New facets of her life are emerging, and some are disappearing; they all suit her.

I enjoyed listening to narrator Xe Sands further bring this story to life. This series continues to delight. Highly recommended.

Great book, as the others in this series. You won't be sorry that you bought this. It took me a bit to get used to this narrator. She is quiet at times when using men's voices, but I got used to it.

Each terrific book is good as stand-alone!

general-contractor, anthropologist, architecture, renovation, murder, law-enforcement, amateur-sleuth ***** She's an anthropologist, general contractor, daughter, sort of step mom, girlfriend, and if a ghost or two want to talk to her she'll do whatever she can to help. Besides being a good mystery novel, there's lots to learn for those of us who geek history, architecture, proper research and renovation. I loved it! Xe Sands is absolutely marvelous as the voice artist!

Engaging story through to the end!

I continue to enjoy every installment of this series. It's a delight to have the multiple possible suspects and tons of motives, yet laid out with great humor and compassion.
