Not quite what I accepted
Not the book to listen to if you're feeling down or depressed. The performance is awesome but I won't lie I couldn't wait for it to end.

Wonderful to read
Juliet Blackwell has given her readers a gift of a story. It weaves the present and past together expertly. It takes the reader to France and Napa Valley and lets us meet characters we would like to see in future novels. I loved it.

Very Depressing
I usually adore Juliet Blackwell and have read over 20 of her books. I was so excited to read this one on Champagne, but it was so depressing about limbs torn off in WW1 and all of the blood and loss, that I started skipping those chapters. Not sure why she had to make this story so sad and depressing. Yes, the widow was sad, but this seemed to be taken to extremes.

The best of hers I've read so far
Constantly intriguing and a pleasure, tho sometimes heartbreaking, to the very end. I loved this book, and I learned a lot about the little-known (to me) history of Champagne, besides.
