Pet Psychic Mystery Series, Book 1

Darwin Winters, reluctant pet psychic, is determined to leave her family's paranormal past behind and lead a normal life. So she strikes out on her own and opens up a new pet boutique in St. Pete, Florida. When a local homeless man she befriends is found dead, and the police assume it's a suicide, Darwin has no choice but to use her gift to help collar the killer.

She adopts his grieving mastiff, Karma - and with the dog's help - tries to piece together the events of that fatal night. Accepting the visions is one thing, but can she solve the mystery without revealing her powers to the jaded, yet drool-worthy, detective in charge of the case? Or will the killer put an end to her psychic sleuthing and bury the truth for good?

Entertaining but some fails

Two things really pulled me out of the story. I’m a long time mastiff owner & the author doesn’t know the breed. Every time she portrayed Karma running along side a bike for an extended time, it was clear she’s never owned a mastiff. They don’t run distance. Period. Additionally it’s very hard on their joints to run very much. Second - the past tense of weave is wove - weaved sounds horrible. This is probably just me, but is really detracted
The narrator does an ok Georgia accent, it’s a little wearing after while.
The characters are often tropes & the romance was unsatisfactory

Delightful Dog Lover Mystery! Characters were detailed & narrator did a great job. I enjoy a quirky mystical leading lady. Easy listening who done it story. Go fetch it now! That's a good human!

Very good mystery, kept you thinking. Didn’t want to put down. Will listen to or read again.

Surprisingly Addictive Series

I’ll admit I started listening to this series without high expectations but the first book was in AudiblePlus and I needed something lighthearted. I enjoyed the book though and the narration (although she pronounces “dog” oddly. I don’t know, maybe Georgians pronounce it that way.) I’m under a lot of stress in the moment and this was just the ticket to escape into a cozy mystery. I’m about to start the 3rd book!
