Just started book

I’ve just started this book and it seems pretty good so far. I just want to say I like reading people’s reviews before I purchase books, but I have seen a lot of reviews that spoil some or a big portion of the story. I really appreciate people taking their time to write, but please don’t spoil the story. I’m seriously not trying to be snooty at all, just a little request.

The absolute best!

I have not read a book this good in such a long time. I cant explain how good it is! The characters were just amazing, the story was fabulous, and I am constantly thinking about what they are doing now. I need a follow up!

Heartwarming and insightful

I felt like this book was meant for me to read especially at this time in my life. So richly complex, I'll let some time go by then listen to it again. Narration wonderful.

17 Hours Flew By!

This story is really well written. The characters and their feelings and reactions are realistic and lovingly portrayed. I LOVE learning about Australian culture, and the accents made listening a joy!

Horrible Narration!

I wanted to listen because the storyline sounds great. However....the narrator read in this breathless, almost whispering voice. CONSTANTLY! Couldn't get past it.

Wow!!!

I loved every last word of this! the families will be with me for a long time! Very well-written and unpredictable!

A book about real life

The story gets complicated about families friends and relationships and I found this tail particularly engaging and loved the ending.

Not enough material to fill 16 hours

The book is about a conventional upper-middle class family dealing with some extreme but typical domestic dramas. The writing is of good quality and the characters are well developed but there is not enough plot to justify the length of novel. So although events do eventually happen, the reader is treated to a lot of drawn out arguments and long expositions where characters explore their inner most thoughts. I think the story could have been saved with a more unique historical or cultural setting, which could have engaged the reader and distracted from the slow plot. Unfortunately, the setting, even though it is set in a vacation town, felt like bland suburbia. I only finished because it was a book club pick, but I kept increasing the narration speed to reach the end sooner.

Great Tale!

This story is out of my normal genre, but I am so glad I got this one! The characters and their varied personalities really complemented one another and added to the story. I looked forward to anytime I could sneak a few minutes to listen to this book and will likely look into this author further.

I didn't want this book to end. I think I just found my new favourite author.

Such a gripping, beautiful story that is SO well written, it's quite a whirlwind and keeps you entertained throughout. A great book I could just escape into. Highly recommend!
