Publisher's Summary

For many of us women, inviting people into our lives and homes feels like inviting judgement of our entertaining skills and stress on our already maxed-out schedules. But what if you knew that opening your front door was a simple and radical way to change the world?

Jen Schmidt is determined to prove it to you. She has set out to reframe how we think about hospitality and to encourage us to walk a road of welcome in our everyday lives. She aims to shatter the image of model homes and model lives, replacing it with relatable, everyday invitations determined to get to know the people around us from more than just a polite distance. When we drop the idea of entertaining, and instead just open the door - just as we are - our guests get to experience the everyday Gospel, our kids grow up in a life lab of generosity, and we trade insecurity for connection.

Just Open the Door is for seasoned hosts, nervous newbies, and everyone in between. It is a personal yes-you-can invitation. Through Jen's hilarious fails, personal tales, and practical tips, you'll start to see your home as the most likely location for changing the world around you.

Opening Your Heart

This is such a powerful book. What joy comes when we submit our wills to Jesus, opening our hearts, minds, and homes for His kingdom work. I’ve been challenged to expand my thinking and commitment to open wider the door of my heart, mind, and home. Thanks Jen for your obedience to God’s call on your life.

Great Model for Hospitality

This book has many stories of opportunities where an invitation passed on would have been a blessing lost. it is greatly needed in todays society. I would have loved to have more Scriptures referenced but still greatly recommend it.

Best book on hospitality I've read!

I absolutely loved this book. Not only did it challenge me to open up my home and take hospitality in many forms, but I love the encouragement to do so without the need for Martha Stuart details. I am not good at the details and in the past have used this as an excuse to shut my doors. Worth the read, and would love more!

Love the content!

I love the heart of this book. Down to earth, relatable, yet it challenged me to go farther. that's what I like and need, and that's why I read books - to grow as a person. This book pushes me, but gives me the tools I need. I enjoyed it very much, and now I have all kinds of ideas I want to try.
The narration was not my favorite. A little too much inflection for a self-help book in my opinion. It was distracting at first, but it got easier to listen to.
