Penn

Being besties with an overenthusiastic, gold-hearted, nudist of a man is a challenge sometimes. Madden makes everything sunshine when he’s around.

The problem is that he hasn’t been around as much lately. We work together, sure, but he’s got his roommates and I have … no one. Just him. So I feel the distance acutely.

My one reassurance is that we have work tying us together, but when an old client calls with a proposition for us, it feels like our once solid friendship is unraveling fast.

He wants Madden to help him open a nudist resort, and if Madden’s doing that, he won’t be working with me.

I’m trying not to panic over the thought of losing him, which is a typical, common best friend reaction. Nothing out of the ordinary.

And neither is the way my body has been reacting to him lately.

Everything is totally, completely normal between us.

While there’s still an us at all.

really really good

love the story and the characters. also I really enjoy any book that Teddy Hamilton narrates. I love his voice and he makes every story better for me. this is a really good story, well written. I do love my boys!

Madden & Penn

Another highly anticipated visit with the Bertha Boys that was everything I expected and more! This time the story featured Madden & Penn- a friends to lovers, bi- awakening, unrequited love, and of course our favorite found family of misfits. Both Penn and Madden go on a journey here, for themselves and to each other and I was here for every second of it.

I have to say this was my least favorite of the series. Good writing and excellent narration by TH as always but somthing was off. I didn't feel the chemistry between them and became frustrated by the constant miscommunication between Penn and Madden. The book kept drilling the fact that they were best best friends and yet they ssmed like strangers at times. I love this series as a whole but for me this one was underwhelming

Beautiful narration

I started the book 100% sympathetic to Madden. Being in love with the "straight" best friend has to suck. I lost that sympathy almost immediately. I don't understand how someone can claim to love someone without once compromising on ANYTHING. He literally waited to the last freaking chapter to get it. I'm glad Penn found new friends and stood up for himself. Even as just friends, Madden put everyone else first. Ugggh there are just so many things that I can't stand about that character. I loved the book

Penn is me.

If someone told me Penn’s character was based on me, I’d have believed them. Late 20’s. Half black/half white. Always feeling like I didn’t quite fit. Having limited friends, feeling lonely, and wondering at what point an acquaintance becomes a friend. Feeling jealous and territorial over people who I do consider to be mine. All of the ugly parts of myself that I hated and thought of as wrong or bad are in Penn and I’m shocked that I actually really liked Penn because those are all things I hate about myself. I wish they dipped further into his background.

I like Madden most of all the guys in the house but he came off quite selfish in this book. He supposedly loved Penn so much but decided everything had to be his way and Penn had to either fall in line with his wants or needs or they wouldn’t work out. Penn is already going through such a big adjustment recognizing his sexuality that I don’t find it fair for Madden to not be willing to consider Penn in any of the choices he makes and rather he just tells him “this is how it’s going to be,” with no compromises.

I've loved this series, the Bertha Boys are great. Pen and Madden are super cute. As usual Teddy Hamilton did great narrating.

Penn and Madden

Another wonderful couple in this outstanding series. The boys of Big Bertha are all finding love and becoming couples and a bigger family. Penn and Madden have a great story. friends to lovers with a sweet HEA. Teddy Hamilton really brings these stories and all of the characters to life. Its awesome how each guy has his own personality. nothing better than Teddy telling a MM romance story.

Madden is the worst

I was not looking forward to this story because I just don’t relate to Madden as a character and his nudist lifestyle. But more than that, Madden is not likable in any way and is constantly hurting his best friend and boyfriend and refusing to communicate with him. He also is always asking Penn to bend to his needs and wants and never compromises anything on his end.

I've loved both authors stories for a long time, but this is the first time I've actually set down a book because I just can't read it. I don't WANT to read it. I'd been putting it off for a long while but I wanted an easy read with a himbo MC and, while this delivered that, the story was drivel. The characters were meh. And where was the chemistry? Not to mention the narrator. He wasn't bad, not at all, but after hearing Iggy and Alex for basically every book, he just didn't hit the mark of expectations.

After this let down, and the Dalton twin let downs, I'm thinking I'll have to pull back on the auto buy from both her and Eden for a bit. 😬

Disappointed

Really disappointed. I didn’t feel the chemistry or see any codependency at all with the MC’s. Madden has supposedly been pining for Penn forever but when he finally has him he can’t manage to give him his time? And the whole nudist concept was really odd to me. And at the end I feel like Madden chose the nudist lifestyle and Penn compromised with it. I think Madden didn’t deserve Penn honestly. I’m interested to hear Xander’s story though so I hope that book is better.
