Shining Smith stands on the brink of achieving her goals, and yet now she could lose everything.

The presidents of four motorcycle clubs are coming to claim blood sacrifice and to ink her with motorcycle club tats. Her new roadhouse and its charter have to meet their approval or the roadhouse has no future, and neither does Shining.

An injured kid shows up at Smith’s Junk and Scrap, but collapses before he can speak.

A note arrives containing a warning and a plea for help, addressed by someone who knows Shining’s most intimate secrets—her history, her plans, and the names of her friends. The sender claims his daughter has been kidnapped by Shining’s enemies. To keep her secrets, he wants Shining to get his daughter back.

In order to rescue the hostage and keep her junkyard, her roadhouse, her people, and the cats alive, Shining Smith will have to suffer, fight, and bargain her way out of danger. All without accidently transitioning anyone—creating an accidental thrall—no matter how much her nanobots want her to.

About the Creator

Faith Hunter is the award-winning New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of three series: the Jane Yellowrock series, the Soulwood series, and the Rogue Mage series (all available on Audible). In addition, she has edited two anthologies set in the RM world and coauthored the Rogue Mage RPG. She is the coauthor and author of 16 thrillers under pen names Gary Hunter and Gwen Hunter. She sold her first book in 1989 and hasn’t stopped writing since. Altogether, she has 40+ books and dozens of short stories in print and is always juggling multiple projects. Faith collects orchids and animal skulls, loves thunderstorms, and writes. She likes to cook soup, bake bread, garden, and kayak Class III whitewater rivers. She makes jewelry and drinks a lot of tea. Some days she’s a lady. Some days she ain't.

About the Performer

Khristine Hvam is an award-winning audiobook narrator, producer, and director. Some of her works include TV/radio commercials, video games, animated series, and most notably, more than 300 audiobook titles. Another good shining Smith book. Though I have Difficulty justifying the credit for an audio book under 5hrs, considering most are 10hrs+

I am a big fan of the Shining Smith series! When I read the synopsis of the first book, I took the chance! And I loved it! The characters are rich, diverse, believable. The plot is always intriguing! The narration is very well done! You simply cannot ask for a better series EXCEPT that the books could be a bit longer!! But Faith Hunter breaks the story off at just the right spot every time - she resolves the current issue and sets the series up for the next book! If you have not read any of the Shining Smith Series, then you need to jump in and take a chance! You will not regret it!!
