These presentations approach the text of the Book of Teresa’s Life like that of a spiritual director asking Teresa about her prayer life. We also ask Teresa about the resistances which for years keep her heart unresponsive to offers of divine friendship. Her gift for making friends is a natural gift, which through her attachment to it drains energy for God. Only after much struggle does Teresa recognize Jesus as her “most dear friend”. As we meet the confessors who become her advisers, we gain insight into inept guidance and good spiritual guidance. Teresa’s journey offers insight for our lives today, especially for persons who offer or who seek spiritual guidance.
