Story
If there's one thing seventeen-year-old Maverick Carter knows, it's that a real man takes care of his family. As the son of a former gang legend, Mav does that the only way he knows how: dealing for the King Lords. With this money he can help his mom, who works two jobs while his dad's in prison. Life's not perfect, but with a fly girlfriend and a cousin who always has his back, Mav's got everything under control. Until, that is, Maverick finds out he's a father. But it's not so easy to sling dope, finish school, and raise a child.

Real! Relatable! Inspiring!
I love how the author baits you in with the most mundane habits, then draws parallels from scripture to teach lessons. This book will force you to take a closer look in the mirror and ask yourself what have you allowed to take God's place? What/Who are you worshipping? It's also a reminder that no matter your situation, someone has it worst and would die to trade places with you. Most importantly, this book served as a reminder of GOD's unwavering love He has for us.
I can't wait to read more books from this young author.

Give this book a listen!
A good glimpse into the struggles of today's urban youth.
I had never heard of this author but stumbled upon this book. I liked the cover (shallow alert: I DID pick the book by it’s cover). I liked how the word “piece” was replaced with “peace.” As a Christian, we understand the peace that surpasses all understanding. This book does not shy away from difficult topics that today’s youth are exposed to and exposed to at such a young age. The book is a glimpse into the mind of our youth and a guide on how to reach those distant teenagers in our life. I just added a new author to follow.

Accidentally found this hidden gem -worth a credit
I was looking at new releases and happened to come across ‘Jesus Peace’. I still can’t explain what attracted me to it, but I thought I’d listen to the sample? The sample didn’t give much away, but the narration seemed good from the author. I thought I’d gamble a credit on it. I’m so happy that I did. I’ve listened to hundreds of audiobooks and this title, is now one of my favourites.
The novel touches on many different aspects of youth and morality. A very well written and read book by Timothy Nelson.
He doesn’t seem to have any more books out on audible. I’ll be definitely looking out for his future work.
From a new fan, in the U.K. England.

Story
When you look like us—brown skin, brown eyes, black braids or fades—everyone else thinks you’re trouble. No one even blinks twice over a missing Black girl from public housing because she must’ve brought whatever happened to her upon herself. I, Jay Murphy, can admit that, for a minute, I thought my sister Nicole just got caught up with her boyfriend—a drug dealer—and his friends. But she’s been gone too long. Nic, where are you? It’s time to step up, to do what the Newport News police department won’t. Bring her home.

Story
Get ready to die laughing: This is an outrageously funny ride through the last hours of a teenager’s life as he searches for love, meaning, answers, and (just maybe) a way to live on. Denton Little’s Deathdate takes place in a world exactly like our own except that everyone knows the day on which they will die. For Denton, that’s in just two days - the day of his senior prom. Despite his early deathdate, Denton has always wanted to live a normal life, but his final days are filled with dramatic firsts. First hangover. First sex. First love triangle.

Brooklyn, 1998. Biggie Smalls was right: Things done changed. But that doesn’t mean Quadir and Jarrell are cool letting their best friend Steph’s music lie forgotten under his bed after he’s murdered - not when his rhymes could turn any Bed-Stuy corner into a party. With the help of Steph’s younger sister, Jasmine, they come up with a plan to promote Steph’s music under a new rap name: the Architect. Soon, everyone wants a piece of him. When his demo catches the attention of a hotheaded music label rep, the trio must prove Steph’s talent from beyond the grave.
