Great story character work and worldbuilding by Fonda Lee. Can't wait for book 3 this year

i have no idea to feel about this.

I hate every character in this book, however, I just cannot get enough of this story.

Absolute Banger

Believable Asia, _characters_, drugs, gays, gangsters, love, magic, peace, politics, and war: this book has it all and it absolutely slaps. It carries on all the energy and promise of book one with all the characters you still deeply care about while bringing in still more who are just as real.

I can't wait to see how the survivors do in book three.

excellent second book

Lee's character writing balances well with her plotting. even the telegraphed beats to anyone familiar with strong narrative progression leave you guessing as to how something may twist from lucky to unlucky, good to bad, etc

pulls you in

Different from most that I read the overall need to justify evil; to disguise it with family, love, & religion. I'm in this series whole heartedly

Loved this sequel

This was a great follow up to Jade City. It was heartbreaking and thrilling at the same time. I am hurt by the decisions made by the Kauls but I understand. I can’t wait for the conclusion.

Awesome 2nd book

The only thing that was eh, was how slow this one felt in the middle but the pay off was worth it. Lee has a great talent for building the tension of power politics. If you liked Jade City, this is a great sequel.

phenomenal writing/exceptional preformance

Fantastic continuation to the Green Bone series filled with a lot more world building and political intrigue. Fonda Lee is a magician at writing such an intricate world and bringing us closer to the Kaul family we love so much. I absolutely love this series with all my heart and I dont want it to end! This series is absolutely a favorite of all time.

hell of a ride

most of my misgivings and boredom of the fist book are gone after listening to 2nd book.

lots more meat and potatoes...most excellent book.

An emotional rollercoaster!

Great character development. The story was well continued from book one, and we got to delve into the minds of several characters without losing the main plot.
