Familiar

as a dan of Don Marshalls it was so easy to listen to his narration. It was familiar and almost comforting. I loved the small chapters as a mom who has to stop my stories often It was nice.

Eye Opening

What a wonderful little book! Fantastic telling of the story behind Tolkien and LOTR and the Hobbit. All of the little insights and back stories add a certain greater depth to the rich story of the real struggle between good and evil. So much work and imagination by one man is incredible. Tolkien gave us a great literary gift and this book expounds on it

Insightful and Intimate

This is a must read for any Tolkien lover.
Don does an excellent job giving a clear and organized look at the highlights of Tolkien’s life, story building, and mythos making. I especially enjoyed the “More You Know” fun facts, and that Don did not get bogged down trying to repeat every fact we’ve seen done in other biographical works. Instead you can tell he tried to give us new smaller known facts or new takes on the well known.

This work shows tue quality that is brought when a true fan of something gets to share their passion. This combined with Don’s compassionate insight, and soothing audio has a created an intimate portrait of a man so many hold dear. The audiobook truly felt as if we were sitting down for a companionable chat over tea. I’ll be recommending to all the Tolkien fans in my life.
