Publisher's summary

This gripping, inspirational memoir grapples with the tension between faith and science - and between death and hope - as a seasoned neurosurgeon faces insurmountable odds and grief both in the office and at home.

Winner of the Christian Book Award

"Beautiful, haunting, powerful..." (Daniel G. Amen, MD)

Dr. W. Lee Warren, a practicing brain surgeon, assumed he knew most outcomes for people with glioblastoma, head injuries, and other health-care problems. Yet even as he tried to give patients hope, his own heart would sink as he realized, I've seen the end of you.

But it became far more personal when the acclaimed doctor experienced an unimaginable family tragedy. That's when he reached the end of himself.

Gripping medical stories serve as the backdrop for a raw, honest look at how we can remain on solid ground when everything goes wrong and how we can find light in the darkest hours of life.

I've Seen the End of You is the rare audiobook that offers tender empathy and tangible hope for those who are suffering. No matter what you're facing, this doesn't have to be the end. Even when nothing seems to makes sense, God can transform your circumstances and your life. And he can offer a new beginning.

Critic reviews

"Dr. Lee Warren has a rarified vantage point, for he makes a living by entering the most secluded - and most sacred - part of a person: the human brain. The patients in this book have stories worthy of a novel, and Dr. Warren does them justice, describing their medical crises in gripping prose while also facing the questions that emerge to test his faith." (Philip Yancey, author of such books as What’s So Amazing About Grace? and The Jesus I Never Knew)

"Is this book worth your time? A few questions will help you decide: Do you appreciate fine writing? Are you willing to have your faith stirred? Would you like to eavesdrop on the thoughts of a brilliant surgeon? Could you benefit from some warm, vibrant, incisive contemplations about this difficult, untidy, wonderful thing called human life? If you answered yes to any or all of these, you are holding the right book. Enjoy it. I certainly did." (Max Lucado, pastor and best-selling inspirational author)

"In beautiful, haunting, powerful prose, I’ve Seen the End of You will inspire you, make you cry, and ultimately help you see God and suffering in a new way." (Daniel G. Amen, MD, physician, psychiatrist, best-selling author, and founder of Amen Clinics)

Thought provoked and faith examined

Absolutely loved this book! Dr. Lee Warren's story, perspective, and ability to weave in his personal experiences to draw out biblical, gospel truth was both thought provoking and heart warming. Although he and I have very different lives and professional paths, his honesty, vulnerability and raw but gentle approach really had me thinking through the very question he addressed - Will I lean into what I THINK I know, or will I lean into my faith and trust the God I know? The entire book was beautifully written and delivered, I especially loved how the epilog tied it all together and harnessed all that he had learned. Thank you Dr. Lee Warren for sharing this - I am now examining my faith and feel convicted to look through the faith prism in my current state so that the light and bigger picture can be revealed as I persevere and walk down this shadowy path.

Medicine and faith

I decided to read this book because I’ve lost a child myself. I am a nurse and a person of faith. It is a quandary when the unthinkable happens and rocks your world.
The author tells his heartfelt story of being a human person of faith who also practices medicine and struggles to understand the whys of child loss and Gods sovereignty in disease.
I found many tidbits of healing within the story. It was like I was hearing my own story. I thank the author for his frankness and honesty. Gut wrenching. Most of all I thank God for the hope of eternity.
If you struggle with faith you are fine you are not alone. That doesn’t mean lack of faith but just how to carry faith in the reality of Gods sovereignty.

What we think we know.....

My precious sister was diagnosed with Glioblastoma and died 17 months later. Dr Warren’s story hit home, and brought light. If you have experienced a tragedy, you need to read his story.

Excellent

Excellent story, well narrated and gave me lots to think about. Still waffling between being an atheist and semi-believer.
