There are two schools of thought for encouraging babies to sleep through the night: the hotly debated Ferber technique of letting the baby "cry it out", or the grin-and-bear-it solution of getting up from dusk to dawn as often as necessary. If you don't believe in letting your baby cry it out, but desperately want to sleep, there is now a third option, presented in Elizabeth Pantley's sanity-saving audiobook The No-Cry Sleep Solution.

Publisher's Summary
From a leading pediatric sleep physician comes a revolutionary program that will have everyone in the house sleeping through the night.
When Dr. Craig Canapari became a father, he realized that all his years of 36-hour hospital shifts didn't even come close to preparing him for the sleep deprivation that comes with parenthood. The difference is that parents don’t get a break - it’s hard to know if there’s a night of uninterrupted sleep anywhere in the foreseeable future. Sleepless nights for kids mean sleepless nights for the rest of the family - and a grumpy group around the breakfast table in the morning.
In It's Never Too Late to Sleep Train, Canapari helps parents harness the power of habit to chart a clear path to high-quality sleep for their children. The result is a streamlined two-step sleep training plan that focuses on cues and consequences, the two elements that shape all habits and that take on special importance when it comes to kids’ bedtime routines.
Dr. Canapari distills years of clinical research and experience to make sleep training simple and stress-free. Even if you’ve been told that you’ve missed the optimal "window" for sleep training, Dr. Canapari is here to prove that it's never too late, whether your child is six months or six years old. He's on your side in the battle against bedtime, and with his advice, parents and children alike can expect a lifetime of healthy sleep.

Good book, but geared more towards older children
I enjoyed this book and found some helpful tips, but i felt like it was geared more towards older children who can communicate and be reasoned with as opposed to babies and young toddlers who do not have fully developed language skills yet. It also didn't give much insight or advice for breastfeeding mothers when it comes to things such as stopping night feedings or transitioning to falling asleep independently when the child is used to nursing to sleep. He quickly touched on the topic, but didn't go in depth or really offer much advice or solutions. My biggest disappointment was there was no guidance as to what to do when a child wakes up in the middle of the night or just won't go to sleep and is wide awake and ready to play.

Great tips for older children
Love that this book doesn’t shame you because of things you did or didn’t do when your child was younger. It gives you real tips to improve sleep and actions you can take NOW to improve your child’s sleep. This is helpful for children of all ages and addresses many issues including nursing to sleep, curtain calls after bedtime, setting appropriate bedtimes, etc. Loved it and would highly recommend!

I sleep again!!!
Read the book twice. We got the environment down. Pushed the bed time back to 8pm from 630-7. Waited for my cousins wedding date to pass. After the wedding gave him three days before starting the sleep. Night 1, wad able to be put in his crib and fell asleep no crying 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Has been able to be put down in his crib ever since and sleep a minimum of 10 hours. He has been in his crib now for maybe 3 weeks and has o ly cried being put down 4 times. The first time was 20 minutes. Every other time it's usually less than 5. Thank you for getting me and my wife our sleep back. I'm sure most people have issues with this process but it was a cake walk from day 1 for us. Our son used to co sleep in the bed and would wake up 5 times a night most nights. He also fed at night and only needed to be fed 1 time since we started and now we have most completely past night feedings.

Finally!!! A solid plan that works!
This book gave me the needed tools to move my 3 and 4 year old boys into their own bed, FINALLY!!!!!I had two boys fourteen months apart. They lived in our bedroom due to space reasons for the first two years and slept in our bed out of habit developed from nursing. It has been such a long struggle of sleepless nights. We are on day three and have already seen such an improvement! For us, the magic was not laying down with them to go to sleep at night. My husband and I are taking turns with bringing them back to bed during the night. I KNOW this is going to work. I can feel it in my soul. No tears, no anxiety. This was just what we needed! Thank you!
