Publisher's Summary

Performed by Trevor Moawad with a foreword written and read by Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson

From a top mental conditioning coach - "the world’s best brain trainer" (Sports Illustrated) - who has transformed the lives and careers of elite athletes, business leaders, and military personnel, battle-tested strategies that will give you tools to manage and overcome negativity and achieve any goal.

He knows how to win. More, he knows the many ways - subtle, brutal, often self-inflicted - we lose.

As the most trusted mental coach in the world of sports, Trevor Moawad has worked with many of the most dominant athletes and the savviest coaches. From Nick Saban and Kirby Smart to Russell Wilson, they all look to Moawad for help finding or keeping or regaining their competitive edge. (As do countless business leaders and members of special forces.)

Now, at last, Moawad shares his unique philosophy with the general public. He lays out lessons he's derived from his greatest career successes as well as personal setbacks, the game-changing wisdom he's earned as the go-to whisperer for elite performers on fields of play and among men and women headed to the battlefield.

Moawad's motivational approach is elegant but refreshingly simple: He replaces hardwired negativity, the kind of defeatist mindset that's nearly everybody's default, with what he calls "neutral thinking". His own special innovation, it's a nonjudgmental, nonreactive way of coolly assessing problems and analyzing crises, a mode of attack that offers luminous clarity and supreme calm in the critical moments before taking decisive action.

Not only can neutral thinking raise your performance level - it can transform your overall life. And it all starts, Moawad says, with letting go. Past failures, past losses - let them go.

"The past isn't predictive. If you can absorb and embrace that belief, everything changes. You'll instantly feel more calm. And the athlete - or employee or parent or spouse-who's more calm is also more aware, and more times than not...will win."

Want to become a mental giant? Read this book.

I’ve always wondered how Russell Wilson was able to be so calm in championship moments. This book gave me a glimpse into that and also why he responds in post game interviews the way he does. It is extremely practical for my industry which is mortgages in real estate. I can’t recommend this book enough. I loved it and will re-read it over and over and make sure I gift it To my business partners and colleagues. Thank You Trevor, Andy and Russell For introducing me to neutral thinking. I will put the methods I learned from this book and put them into practice.

Whoa! Mind Blown

A friend of mine turned me on to Trevor Moawad. I had the original Chicken Soup for the Soul and while that one made me happy I have to say this work has truly inspired! Absolutely loved the audio and will listen to it again and again! Thus book is a blueprint to high performance culture creation that I have been looking for!

A perfect Segway into bettering yourself

I have been a Trevor Moawad fan ever since I heard his first podcast with drama. I’ve been on the self help journey for a while and the lessons that he teaches seems to resonate with me the most. This book gives you a good insight on how some of the top performers in the world think and make themselves better. I appreciate the idea of neutral thinking. I’ve always thought that “just be positive all the time” was never the answer and I’m glad that I’m not the only one that feels this way. Awesome book, worth the read.

Read/Listen this book ASAP

Loved it! The Author did a wonderful job layering sports and life with his advice and experiences. As a former high school and college athlete it's easy to apply coaching into the sport, what's been hard is the transition into life and careers post-athletics. Neutral thinking can be challenging but Trevor gives the tools and thought exercises necessary to shift your mind from negative or stinking thinking into a realistic awareness of the moment.

One of the best reads on leadership yet

Excellent book! I'm a huge fan of all things mindset and leadership and have consumed a LOT of material. This was one of the best. I'm also a HUGE Seahawks and Russell Wilson fan and beyond what he's done for our team, I now know why there's always been a deeper respect and connection. Well done and thank you for sharing your wisdom!

Great read (listen). Hits the nail on the head!

Thank you so much for this Trevor. I was so nice a division 1 athlete and not I am a division 1 coach and have sent this book to my entire team. So much in this book resonates with me. Neutral thinking is how I’ve lived my life, without even knowing it. If I could have heard this book as an athlete things would have been different, better, for me. I recommend to anyone wanting to hear the hard truths!

Poor language totally discredits this book

How can someone feel comfortable reading this book when it’s intoxicating to read? Such a waste from the author
