Story
A collection of 10 short horror stories - some darker than others. They all share a common theme: the existence of creepy things, day or night, and they will come for you. Other themes explored are revenge, isolation, good vs. evil, the will to survive, and, of course, death, amongst a few others. Author Donna Trovato presents disturbing stories intended to make you ponder, cringe, shudder, or gasp. Have you glanced over your shoulder lately to see if someone is watching you - lurking in the shadows?

Story
One Christmas Eve in a small hollow in Boone County, West Virginia, struggling songwriter Jesse Walker witnesses a strange spectacle: seven devilish figures chasing a man in a red suit toward a sleigh and eight reindeer. When the reindeer leap skyward, taking the sleigh, devil men, and Santa into the clouds, screams follow. Moments later, a large sack plummets back to earth, a magical sack that thrusts the down-on-his-luck singer into the clutches of the terrifying Yule Lord, Krampus.

Story
Midnight. Some call it the witching hour. Others call it the devil’s hour. Here in the graveyard, midnight is a very special time. It is a time when ghostly spirits are at their strongest, when the veil between our world and theirs is at its thinnest. Legend has it, that while most of the world is asleep, the lack of prayers allow the spirits to communicate under the cover of darkness, among the headstones, their whispers rustling in the leaves of the old oak trees. But if you’re here in the graveyard, you can tell yourself it’s just the wind....

Story
When Mouse’s dad asks her to clean out her dead grandmother's house, she says yes. After all, how bad could it be? Answer: pretty bad. Grandma was a hoarder, and her house is stuffed with useless rubbish. That would be horrific enough, but there’s more - Mouse stumbles across her step-grandfather’s journal, which at first seems to be filled with nonsensical rants...until Mouse encounters some of the terrifying things he described for herself.

It was no secret that journalist Jack Sparks had been researching the occult for his new book. No stranger to controversy, he'd already triggered a furious Twitter storm by mocking an exorcism he witnessed. Then there was that video: 40 seconds of chilling footage that Jack repeatedly claimed was not of his making, yet it was posted from his own YouTube account. Nobody knew what happened to Jack in the days that followed - until now.

The places in this book are shunned, abandoned, and forgotten. They do not exist, and yet here you will find the stories of people who have gone and survived to tell their tales. These are the postcards from the void, frightful evidence of places that should not be, and yet exist in our nightmares. Should you dare to venture into these blighted places, remember: Don't talk to strangers, don't stray far from home, and never, ever go in alone.

Wonderful Performance and Great Variety
I will be the first to admit that I have a story appearing in this collection and may be somewhat biased. However, I think I can objectively say that Simon de Deney’s performance here is an absolute delight and that he really brings these tales to life. There is a great variety of work here from many wonderful authors. This one would definitely be worth your credit if you’re a lover of deep woods, rural horror.
