Publisher's summary

In this essential handbook - a blend of Rich Dad, Poor Dad and The Happiness Project - the cohost of the wildly popular InvestED podcast shares her yearlong journey learning to invest, as taught to her by her father, investor and best-selling author Phil Town.

Growing up, the words finance, savings, and portfolio made Danielle Town's eyes glaze over, and the thought of stocks and financial statements shut down her brain. The daughter of a successful investor and best-selling financial author of Rule #1, Phil Town, she spent most of her adult life avoiding investing - until she realized that her time-consuming career as a lawyer was making her feel anything but in control of her life or her money. Determined to regain her freedom, vote for her values with her money, and deal with her fear of the unpredictable stock market, she turned to her father, Phil, to help her take charge of her life and her future through Warren Buffett-style value investing. Over the course of a year, Danielle went from avoiding everything to do with the financial industrial complex to knowing exactly how and when to invest in wonderful companies.

In Invested, Danielle shows you how to do the same: how to take command of your own life and finances by choosing companies with missions that match your values, using the same gold-standard strategies that have catapulted Warren Buffet and Charlie Munger to the top of the Forbes 400. Avoiding complex math and obsolete financial models, she turns her father's investing knowledge into 12 easy-to-understand lessons.

In each chapter Danielle examines the investment strategies she mastered as her increasing know-how deepened the trust between her and her father. Throughout, she streamlines the process of making wise financial decisions and shows you just how easy - and profitable - investing can be.

Capturing a warm, charming, and down-to-earth give and take between a headstrong daughter and her mostly patient dad, Invested makes the complex world of investing simple, straightforward, and approachable and will help you formulate your own investment plan - and foster the confidence to put it into action. Sooooo slow and unnecessarily drawn out 😩

Get to the point. 20 mins worth of information buried under boring, silver spoons life 101.

Clarity is lost in audio.

She has a good story line, but hard to impossible to follow methods from an audio book. It would be much better as a physical book.

Not what I was expecting

I’m not sure what I was expecting from this book, maybe something new about investing? I kept wanting to like the book but it was 90% her life story and 10% about actually important information for a beginner like myself. I felt like a fish on a hook trying to keep biting the good info but instead just heard her story about her grandma, childhood and all the details that I really had no interest in.

Easily my fav of 2018

As an aspiring investor this book provides a great anchor where it’s not a super long how-to. I relate a lot to Danielle’s current market aptitude, and even though Math likes me, the story in this book made full use of my emotions. From feeling inspired at the end, to laughing uncontrollably during Danielle’s first practice shares experience. I loved this book and the Top 15 investor books on Phil’s website are part of my 2019 goals. I’ll be adding this book to my yearly re-reads.

Terrible and useless book!

I rarely write review but this is a case where I think my review might help others from making a mistake. Here are what I have to share about this book:
- In term of investing, this contains some very basic information so, unless you know nothing about investing, it is useless.
- It will require you a lot of patience to finish listening to this book. The childish personal/dating stories, the annoying voice will wear you out. The maximum duration I can endure in one session of listening is 30 minutes before it becomes too much to handle. I did finish listening to the book so that I can write this review for you.
- The writing style is like that of a school girl. If you don't like useless gossip and unrelated stories then stay away.
- The author never met Buffett and Munger so the title is extremely dishonest and misleading!

Benjamin Graham for Millenials

Danielle does a great job of breaking down value investing philosophies from the likes of Graham, Buffet, amd Munger in a modern, easy to read format. Great read!

As the first investment book, ok

Basic concepts, nice personal story. Hear it if you are new to investing.
If you expect deep calculations etc, don’t read.
Nice resources at the end.

WORTHY!!!

This book is absolutely worthy of a wicked review!!! As someone who has listened to over 4000 hours of academic audiobooks, Danielle is not only a captivating author, she is a captivating narrator too!! Her real life style pulls you in, making you believe that's she's truly been in your position, asking the, seemingly stupid questions that you'd be afraid to ask for fear of looking and sounding, well, stupid. She is you... Looking for a worthy teacher to teach you something scary, Investing. You asked and the Universe has provided! I walk away with this knowledge, feeling more confident, secure and Trust for the Source and knowledge given. Thank you Universe for consistently providing 🙏 And thank you Danielle and Phil for stepping up and sharing!!!
