“Read the Orphan X series. You’ll thank me later." ―David Baldacci

Gregg Hurwitz's New York Times bestselling Orphan X returns - just when Evan Smoak thinks he's done, his deadliest job yet pulls him back Into The Fire...

Evan Smoak lives by his own code.

Once he was known as Orphan X. Trained as an off-the-books government assassin and spoken about only in whispers, Evan Smoak was one of the most talented - and most feared - men in the Program. But he broke free and reinvented himself as The Nowhere Man, a figure shrouded in mystery, known for helping the truly desperate.

If anyone is truly desperate, it’s Max Merriweather.

Max is at the end of his rope. His cousin has been brutally murdered, leaving Max an envelope that contains nothing but a mysterious key. However, someone really wants that key, badly enough that Max - and anyone he turns to - is in deadly danger. What seems like a simple job for The Nowhere Man turns out to be anything but. Behind every threat he takes out, a deadlier one emerges and Evan Smoak must put himself in greater danger than ever before as he heads once more Into The Fire.

I've listened to all of the series. It's by far one of my favorites. Awesome author, awesome narrator. This one is just as good as all the rest.

Orphan X, one of my favorite series!

Easily five stars across the board. I'd give both the story and reader 6-7 stars if I could. I've read three of Hurwitz's Orphan X and related books. This one, too, kept me going with repeated, surprise challenges for Evan Smoat; each held my interest and, gratefully for me, extended the story. (Four times I sat in my car in my garage, listening and waiting for a scene or adventure to end before I got out of my car.) Scott Brick is one of the best readers, EVER, and here, he captured the emotions, reactions, inflections, and cadence of the characters, females included, which is difficult for many male readers. Brick's reading of the dialogue was picth perfect, as are the actions, reactions, and fears that the author gives to the various main characters.

One of best by both author and reader

I always enjoy these stories, and Scott Brick, this one was the best one yet

Best yet

Overall a very good story. Super-man hero became a little weary to hear all the way towards the end.

Nice rhythm, tight plot

Without fail Gregg Hurwitz brings the heat and keeps you riveted throughout every chapter. And Scott Brick brings it all to life. What a perfect pairing of author and narrator. Can’t wait for the next Book!!

This series is amazing! Every single book! The narration by Scott Brick is awesome!

This book is so good. I am so sad it's the last one right now, I have binge listened to this series and now I have to wait for the next book release. Sigh...

This story was so good. The bad people just kept coming out of the woodwork at every turn. Just when you think the nowhere man has finished helping Max someone else pops up to try and kill him.

So much action and intense moments happening all the time. Get put in prison kill someone and leave. HA! Loved it.

As for the narration Scott Brick is amazing again! Brings the book and characters to life.

Amazing! Fantastic Series!

But what about Mom? This can't be it! I have an MP3 in the house with one book so I don't go through them so fast and I have another going on Car Play but this was ridiculous. I went through this one in two days. Started one afternoon and finished the next. And all along threats of Orphan X ending. Well, just say it ain't so!!!!!

Another too fast great

Not sure how I got connected to the these Hurwitz novels, very glad I did. The stories are very well written with interesting characters and plots. This book joins the rest and I’m looking forward to the next. AND... Scott Brick does an excellent narration. I hope he continues with future books.

Evon Smoke - no where

I guess I should thank Gregg Hurwitz for making this 59 year old feel like a teen with a Tiger Beat crush... somehow he’s created a male character that triggers a protective instinct and “all the feels” at the same time!

I need to be personally notified that another Orphan X book is out (Mr. Hurwitz, maybe you could send me a personal email) because I had no idea ‘Into The Fire’ had been available for months and I was thrilled when I saw it!

As always I truly enjoyed the storyline, Scott Brick’s understated voice for Evan and all of the Nowhere Man’s ingenious plans on behalf of the person who needs his help.
I’m not sure how I feel about Evan Smoak leaving behind The Nowhere man.
One thing I’ve so loved about this series is getting to know the real, everyday characters that Evan helps... I think it’s what sets this series apart from the rest.
There are so many options out there that are completely about politics, or crime...when the Nowhere Man helps an average citizen it makes him more real!
I’m willing to see where Hurwitz takes us with the next installment....but if that human element is gone along with The Nowhere Man, I’ll be so disappointed!

Marry me Evan Smoak!
