Story
Donovan and I met at a coffee shop to do the suitcase exchange. Turned out, it wasn’t just his voice that was sexy. The man holding my luggage was absolutely gorgeous, and we had an immediate spark. He got me to admit that I’d snooped in his bag and then convinced me to make it up to him by letting him buy me coffee. Coffee led to dinner, dinner led to dessert, and dessert led to spending an entire weekend together. So what did I do to repay him for his kindness? I waited until he was in the shower, then ghosted him.

The first time I met Caine West was in a bar. He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out. When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight -- telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass. You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend-smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married. He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he'd done.

The feud between Weston Lockwood and me started at the altar. Only neither of us attended the wedding, and the nuptials happened decades before either of us was born. Our grandfathers had been best friends and business partners, at least up until my grandfather’s wedding day - when his bride-to-be blurted out she couldn’t marry him because she was also in love with Weston‘s grandfather.

Story
I’d never forgotten him - a man I’d yet to meet. Griffin Quinn was my childhood pen pal, the British boy who couldn’t have been more different from me. Over the years, through hundreds of letters, we became best friends, sharing our deepest, darkest secrets and forming a connection I never thought could break. Until one day, it did. Then, out of the blue, a new letter arrived. A scathing one - one with eight years of pent-up anger. I had no choice but to finally come clean as to why I stopped writing. Griffin forgave me, and we were able to rekindle our childhood connection.

Hockey star Max Yearwood was everything I needed at the time - fun, sexy, up for anything, and only around for a few months, since he’d signed with a new team 3,000 miles away. Max proposed we spend the summer helping me forget my ex. It sounded like a good plan. Things couldn’t get too serious when we had an expiration date. Right? My love story all started with a letter. Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter. A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for. You see, once a year my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months. So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far. While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father.

A new standalone novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author, Vi Keeland. The night I met Drew Jagger, he'd just broken into my new Park Avenue office. I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills. He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing. Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant. Only, turned out, he wasn't an intruder at all. Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office. He'd been on vacation while his posh space was renovated.

Bennett Fox walked into my life on one hell of a crappy Monday morning. I was late for the first day at my new job - a job I’d now have to compete for, even though I’d already worked eight years to earn it, because of an unexpected merger. While I lugged my belongings up to my new office, a meter maid wrote me a parking summons. She’d ticketed a long line of cars - except for the Audi parked in front of me, which happened to be the same make and model as mine. Annoyed, I decided to regift my ticket to the car that had evaded a fine.

The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

When I first encountered Ford Donovan, I had no idea who he was...well, other than the obvious. Young, gorgeous, successful, smart. Did I mention young? If I did, it bears repeating. Ford Donovan was too young for me. Let’s back up to how it all started. My best friend decided I needed to start dating again. So, without my knowledge, she set up a profile for me on a popular dating site - one that invited men ages 21 to 27 to apply for a date.

It was just a typical Monday. Until the big boss asked me to make the pitch for a prospective new client. After two years on shaky ground at work because of my screw up, an opportunity to impress the senior partners was just what I needed. Or so I thought, until I walked into the conference room and collided with the man I was supposed to pitch to. My coffee spilled, my files tumbled to the ground, and I almost lost my balance. And that was the good part of my day. Because the gorgeous man who crouched down and looked at me like he wanted to eat me alive was none other than my ex.

Money or love? Which would you choose? You probably just answered the question in your head, thinking it's an easy decision. For me, it's not. Did I mention it's a lot of money? A hell of a lot. I needed to go far away to think it through. As I embarked on an impulsive trip, I hit a detour when I met sexy Carter in the airport lounge. We struck up a heated conversation. Then, he left. I thought I'd never see him again. But fate had other plans. Surprise! He was the pilot of my flight.

It started out like any normal day. Then the fender bender happened. The guy I collided with drove an expensive car and was drop-dead gorgeous. Too bad he was also a total jerk. We argued over whose fault it was and any other thing that came out of his condescending mouth. Eventually, the police came and we went our separate ways. The insurance companies would have to figure things out. I had a job interview to get to anyway - one I was excited about. Though that excitement changed to disappointment the moment the person interviewing me walked in. The guy from the accident.

Publisher's Summary
From number-one New York Times best seller Vi Keeland, comes a new, sexy stand-alone novel.
Terminated for inappropriate behavior.
I couldn’t believe the letter in my hands.
Nine years. Nine damn years I’d worked my butt off for one of the largest companies in America, and I was fired with a form letter when I returned home from a week in Aruba.
All because of a video taken when I was on vacation with my friends - a private video made on my private time. Or so I thought....
Pissed off, I cracked open a bottle of wine and wrote my own letter to the gazillionaire CEO telling him what I thought of his company and its practices.
I didn’t think he’d actually respond.
I certainly never thought I’d suddenly become pen pals with the rich jerk.
Eventually, he realized I’d been wronged and made sure I got my job back.
Only…it wasn’t the only thing Grant Lexington wanted to do for me.
But there was no way I was getting involved with my boss’s boss’s boss. Even if he was ridiculously gorgeous, confident, and charming.
It would be completely wrong, inappropriate even.
Sort of like the video that got me into trouble to begin with.
Two wrongs don’t make a right.
But sometimes it’s twice as fun.

**Trigger Warning**
(And, by necessity, *spoiler*) I can’t believe this has yet to be mentioned in the comments. I would not have chosen this book had I known. A major plot point in this book is the loss of an infant and the tragic circumstances surrounding that event.
The beginning had promise, but the rest of the story did not live up to that promise. I felt the seriousness of the plot demanded far more conversation than sex. Clearly, the author felt the opposite. Had I known the plot, I would have chosen a different, and more enjoyable, book.

Needs a TRIGGER WARNING **
Awesome book with two amazing characters but the subplot, which is not included in the book description is worthy of a TRIGGER WARNING. As such, SPOILER ALERT: the ex-wife suffers from severe PPD/depression and murders their 6 week old baby. OH. MY. GOD. I usually listen to audio books to fall asleep (loooove Sebastian York and Andi Arndt!) but I wish I would have known so I could choose a different book. I feel traumatized. Probably because Vi is such a fabulous writer, and the narration is so good. But a heads up would have helped me make a better selection. Best wishes to you!

A beautiful story of love
When I read the blurb for this, I knew I wanted to read it. I eagerly waited for it to become available for purchase. I wasn't disappointed.
The blurb describes the story of how Grant and Ireland meet. The attraction between them was undeniable. There was an underlying story of heartbreak that was slowly revealed through the story. It will make you cry. It was so sad. The story is all about love, but with that can come hard times as well. The story also looks at mental health and how that can affect those around them the person who is dealing with it.
The narration, as always with Andi Arndt and Sebastian York was brilliant. They help you get totally sucked into the story. I couldn't stop listening.
It is on the heavy side in parts, but so worth going through it. I thought it was fantastic and really enjoyed it. I know it will be listened to many times. It was so worth the credit.

Loved it! (Spoiler included)
In reading the last couple of reviews, I almost did not buy this book, but I am very glad I did. I truly enjoyed this book from start to finish. I loved Ireland (the female lead), she is quirky and fun. Grant seemed like a very troubled, but nice guy. Their "introduction" to each other was funny and different, and proved that Grant had a sense of humor. I had no choice but to love both of them. The narrators were spectacular as always, you can't go wrong with Sebastian York and Andi Arndt. One reviewer mentioned a "trigger", which could be an issue to an individual who has lost an infant or has an issue processing an infant did not really die - this is just a book. The author needed to come up with a "situation" that would account for Grant's (male lead) issues. She certainly came up with a good story line that would account for that. This book will make you laugh and make you cry - what could be better?

I really enjoyed this book, I am glad I gave it a shot.
Ireland was a great characters and I like that she is so vastly different from what Grant was used to.
Grants past really is tragic and we get to really see who he is and how he falls hard for Ireland it was fun and sweet. But it also gave us a lot to think about.
I like books that not only make you smile and feel good, but also books that make you think about the characters and how they react.
I liked the narration. SebYo is a favorite of mine.

3.5 stars - Just ok
I seem to be on my own with my lower rating for this book, but I found it just “ok”. The characters were nice, I was happy that they got their happily ever after - but in a sort of emotionally detached way. I never really felt their relationship. The plot had a well thought out and detailed back story (which was horribly sad), but although it added to the book, it didn’t add to their relationship which is what these types of books are all about. It all fell a bit flat.

Love it ❤
Vi Keeland always impressed me, I love the way how she made it so in reality especially with the characters they are for real and no non sense etc. Especially when telling the one you love with no hesitation no resistance and no drama for instance " the character would resist and make a drama that he will hurt me so I should listen but in the end they end up together" I know they Make it to make the story longer with all the nonsense and it really irritates and I end up not finishing the story. But Vi Keeland is different she tackles story in reality wiyhout that much drama and nonsense just to make her book long pages etc. Well Vi Keeland you impress me thank you and keep your novels funny and and direct to happy ending without long nonsense drama just to make a novel longer.

easy listen
these 2 narrators work really well together and help the story along. the story itself had a really good second timeline but the current timeline was a little dry. I was very happy that the main female character wasn't the usual needy winey helpless women that over thought everything though, which made the story (in my opinion) more realistic and relatable.

Terrible Novel
Really painful. Zero plot. A difficult childhood doesn’t make you an interesting character. Couldn’t connect with this novel at all.

Wrong category. Pointlessly long
Don’t bother. It’s about 2 hours too long, takes too long to get going then when it’s going it goes absolutely no where slowly. The name is misleading and the books description ends is relevant for maybe half an hour then it becomes something completely different!! You fall slowly down a rabbit hole of mental illness and side characters that are single dimensional and boring. Performers were good, other than that, don’t bother. Save your credit. Complete waste of time.

Interesting... but not the usual ‘passion’.
The story was good. Held a solid story line with some in depth life topics... But lacked Vi’s normal levels of ‘passion’.
