Smart men never dabble with demons. I never claimed to be smart, but at least, I’m powerful enough to control them. When I bound Havoc to me nearly 300 years ago, I never realized how difficult he’d make my life, although “accidentally” lighting him on fire every now and then does bring a smile to my face. Needing a cover for his presence in the Windy City, Patrick is ordered to investigate a politician running for mayor. In the lead up to Election Day, not everything is what it seems in a city where playing to win means appeasing the gods first and the electorate second. But Chicago brings its own set of problems outside the case: a standoffish local god pack, a missing immortal, and Patrick’s twin sister.

Getting into the vampire-only detective unit was the easy part. What’s going to be more difficult is dealing with my new partner - an ancient vampire who keeps threatening to eat me. The unit has never had a human in it. Marcus - or, as I like to call him: Fangy McFangface - would really prefer to keep it that way. He’s grumpy, short-tempered, and broody, but I have a way with words, and I know he’s starting to like me, even if he swears he’s not.

Publisher's Summary
Never let go.
Weighed down by scandal, Captain Jamie Callahan must choose between saving his family’s reputation and his father’s political aspirations, or taking down the enemy once and for all. Choosing one over the other will have lasting repercussions he can’t escape. Whatever path Jamie ultimately picks, Staff Sergeant Kyle Brannigan will be right by his side to face the consequences. Kyle knows in a situation like this the only way out is through. Together they can make it to the other side, but surviving that journey will take everything they have.
One last chance.
Agent Sean Delaney is learning what it means to be part of Alpha Team through trial by fire. He wouldn’t change it for the world, nor would he give up the life he’s building with Staff Sergeant Alexei Dvorkin. But their time together is threatened by outside forces they can’t outrun. Having put the nightmare of Boston behind him, Alexei is focused on keeping his family safe, but he can’t have eyes on everyone. Alexei knows he can’t ignore the danger on the horizon, and when it strikes, he is unprepared for the tragedy it leaves in its wake.
Risking it all.
The odds are stacked ever higher against Alpha Team, and outmaneuvering a precog is a daunting, almost impossible task. Jamie knows something has to give, and when it does, it just might break him the way nothing else in his life ever could.
In the Requiem is a 122k word steamy gay sci-fi military romance with a mostly HEA and concludes this main plot-arc of the series. There is military violence within the story that might not be suitable for everyone, as well as explicit intimate scenes not suitable for listeners under the age of 18. This is a direct sequel to In the Blood and Out of the Ashes. Listening to the previous books in this series would be helpful in enjoying this one.

I didn't appreciate the manipulation in Chapter 20
I have all of the author's books and have enjoyed both her series. I hit chapter 20 and skipped to the end to check on the story. I don't like being manipulated and this became my least favorite of her books. There's a plot point towards the end of the book that continues to irk me. I can't say what it is without spoilers but there was another solution to their problem. That said, I still gave the book 5 stars. Greg Boudreaux's performance was excellent.

He made it feel real and I felt , I was right in the middle of it all. He was brilliant! I love all the heroes , enjoyed listening , going to re-listened their stories and highly recommend this entertaining and sexy series.

This listen blew me away!
15 Stars and then some. I have not read this series. This was the first book and I was fine. It was obvious that there were couples who were involved, but I still absolutely LOVED this book. I will admit, at first I thought I may have gotten in over my head, but after the world building was understood, the story just had me mesmerized. And it's a long one, but SOOOOO incredibly worth it. There were multiple story lines, but all related. Separate couples, all tied together by their military service and their fight against a deadly opponent. This had so many action scenes, so many hot bedroom scenes and one time I almost cried and had to give myself a minute. I picked this story because I love Greg Tremblay as a narrator, but he was phenomenal here. With his British, Southern, and Russian accents, I saw a deeper side of his talents and was awed. So worth the listen. And I need the rest of the series too!

I had already given this story a 5 star review on Amazon after reading in ebook form but the narration by Greg Boudreaux has smashed this out of the ballpark. Greg knows how to wring all the emotions from you and even though I already knew the sad bits were coming I still bawled my eyes out all over again. Absolutely awesome story that was brilliantly narrated.

A Wonderful Conclusion
In the Requiem is the fifth book in the Metahuman Files series, and all the previous books NEED to be read before enjoying this book. In the Requiem is the conclusion to the over arching plotline for the series. What an amazing and breathtaking conclusion to an incredible plotline. There are so many amazing things that happened in this book, but to avoid spoilers, I’ll just say that my heart was in my threat and I was near tears at points. BUT, Hailey Turner comes through with a beautiful happy ending that is worth all the angst. This book has it all: incredible action scenes, hot sex, fascinating plot, and wonderful characters set in a intriguing world. Greg Bourdreaux narrated this book and did a fantastic job. There was a lot of action and emotion that he had to perform and he did it very well. I really enjoyed his performance and thought his narration did the book’s complex plot justice. I highly recommend this book and this series.

Why does this series have to end?
Oh wow, I’m speechless. One of the best-written and most loved novel series has come to an end. And boy, what a thrilling and adventurous journey we had with our beloved Alpha team. This sure was a series filled with roaring action, scorching sexual tension and lots of dirty, dirty loving. Alexi ans Sean are still my very favorite couple in the entire series. And I was so happy to get more of Jamie and Kyle in this book. And we got much needed closure in the series finale. The team went head on with the big bad villains of the series. It was a book with perfect balance of bittersweet angst, unwavering friendship and trust between true friends and that sweet sweet love that is hard won and cherished. Here the members of Alpha Team comes face-to-face with the series’ Big Bads - and the consequences of their own choices. Turner deftly balances the jaw-clenching and heart-wrenching suspense with softer and sweeter moments showcasing the friendship and the loyalty between the team members as well as the love and the passion between Jamie and Kyle and Alexei and Sean. Mis Turner really is the master of this artfully crafted UF world. And the narration of Greg Boudreaux, it was just out of this world good. Loved it to the moon and back. Although I’m sad that this series has come to an end, I don’t think it could have a better ending for all of our beloved characters. I think this is one of those series I’ll relisten and binge from time to time. 5 Alpha team forever in my heart stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Audio rating Story - 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Narration - 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Performance - 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall - 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The series that keeps on giving
I am a huge meta human fan! this book was such a joy to both read and listen to as you followed Jamie through one of the longest and most horrific days of his life. The love between all the characters in this series is something your gonna wish you could bottle and sell. All of the sub characters give you such a well rounded story that by the time you reach the end you will have laughed and cried, felt hope and utter despair, experienced the worst pain and the most holistic joy. please use a credit or buy and start from the beginning, I promise you will not be disappointed.

All the stars for the Metahuman team!
You need to read the previous books in the series before this one. Not only does it follow a storyline from book 1 but there are also a lot of recurring characters, so you might be very lost if you just jump in on this last one. I've only listened to audiobooks in this series, aside from some of the accompanying novellas which I've read, mostly because Greg Boudreaux is one of my favorite narrators ever and I wanted to experience it all through his voice. Not that there weren't some moments in which I wished I could skim/ffwd through them, because if you are a fan of Ms. Turner you already know that she's a master torturer and that she'll make you cry at least once (if not more times) throughout the book. Still, Greg has a way to bring these characters and their stories to life that makes it a no-brainer to brave those scenes by listening to the audiobooks. I read Files of the Heart (the last accompanying novella) before listening to In the Requiem, so I kind of knew what had happened. Let me tell you now, it didn't make it any easier to listen to what happened in this book, so be prepared. If you thought book 4 was hard, this one is harder. I don't know how many tissues I went through while listening, I really couldn't keep track. It was worth it, though, as the end was all the sweeter because of all the pain. This is a series I'll listen to again, especially now that it's done, although Ms. Turner has promised she'll write Liam's story sometime in the future. In the meantime, I can't wait to listen to the novellas in audio next year!

STUNNING!!!
This story is very powerful. Turner's writing kept me on the edge of my seat. Boudreaux's narration takes Turner's writing to a whole other level. He has an absolute gift in causing so many emotions within this audio. It is truly a book filled with twist, turns, gut-wrenching emotions, tears, and a few surprises. Definitely a fantastic series.

I wish there was more than five stars.
This book broke me. 😭😭😭I am broke I tell you. I knew what was coming after reading the book, what can I say Greg does and amazing heartbroken voice. For all characters, Alexei is still my favorite though. 😍 This is now my all time favorite series on Audible. Absolutely outstanding.

Grab the tissues
Can't believe the author did that - and the narrator did such a great job in bringing the moment to life. What you ask? Made me cry like a baby about 3 hours before the end that's what. And no I'm not telling you why - listen to it yourself to find out.

Just WOW!
I love this audiobook and this whole series so much! It's heart-breaking and heart-warming, full of incredible odds, friendship and love, terror and suspense and grief. The characters are complex, strong, and so easy to fall in love with. You root for them, mourn with them, hope with them, and cry with them, hoping somehow they will overcome the odds and make it through. Sean and Alexie faced the fire last time, and this time, Jamie and Kyle have to fight for each other and love. I have to admit I have never been a fan of their very rough love-making, but I adore the strong feelings and love that lie beneath. This book marks the end of the stand-off with the precog, and almost seems like an end to the series, although I still think we are owed a wedding. Although this may be good-bye for now, I hope this is just a break and that Jamie and his team will be back in the future. The narration disappointed a little near the end where Alexie lost his accent and started to sound like Jamie. Up to that point, it was a tremendous job, and full of emotion and angst. I was very happy to receive a complimentary copy of this audiobook, and I am voluntarily leaving this honest review. I will definitely be listening to this audiobook and the whole series again and again.

Absolutely Perfect!
I remember reading this book. I remember getting so absorbed in the scenes, in the emotions that the book is wringing out of me. And all those memories came back rushing in as I listen to Greg Boudreaux brings the story to life. His skills, unparalleled. The unique and distinct voices of each character, it just brings a different layer to an already magnificent story/series. This book in particular has it all, the humor, the heat level up the scales, action, suspense and all the characters we fell in love with. It also pull your heartstrings. This is an amazing conclusion book to this series. and then I remember wishing there was more because I'll miss Jaime and Kyle... (Well, the novellas, they're pretty amazing too!) Friends, get the Metahuman Files books, read them and then, get the audio books and listen to them. It is worth the time and the credits. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could.

Sorry to see the end
This book takes place far in the future and this is a science fiction, but there are elements of the dystopian that ring true. Megacities, places too hot to live, certain foods no longer available – this is all in earth’s future if we don’t do something. This book isn’t preachy, just predictive. This book was also rough on my heart. I’ve fallen in love with Alpha team. The Metahumans keep their existence a secret while fighting those who would destroy America. Led by Captain Jamie Callahan, this band of superhuman men and women fight evil. Jamie’s lover, Kyle Brannigan, is also part of the team. Their love is illicit and only their team knows. Kyle can only wear his engagement ring while in the privacy of their condo. To top it all, Jamie’s father is a senator running for president. Because of an attack at one of his rallies in the last book, his poll numbers have tanked. Alexei Dvorkin is another member of Alpha team and adopted brother of Kyle. His lover on the team is also the newest member, Sean Delaney. Their love affair is as epic as Jamie and Kyle’s, and I’ve enjoyed watching the couples as they navigate working together in dangerous situations and then going home. Alexei and Sean were kidnapped and tortured in the last book and I was glad to see those events and their aftermath weren’t glossed over. In this story, they are up against a precog. How does one fight someone who can see the future? Or believes he can? A man who sets up a scenario so untenable that Jamie has to make the ultimate choice. As I said, this book hurt my heart. As the fifth book in the series, it is definitely more enjoyable if you’ve read the others, but it stands on its own as well. An action-packed book that kept me on the edge of my seat while giving me moments of humor and, of course, lots of love. Big strong men in sappy love. Awesome. Greg Boudreaux narrates this series and I think that’s a perfect fit. He can do Russian along with other accents as well as great voices for all the strong women on the team. I enjoyed this book and am sorry to see this brilliant series come to an end.

One word...Epic!
I have thoroughly enjoyed following Jamie and Alpha team throughout the Metahuman files books, and Hailey is a superbly talented author. But this book in particular gripped me in a way that no other book, EVER, has! I laughed, I shouted, I screamed and I cried - I CRIED. No other author has had me hooked so deeply within its plot, attached to its characters as thoroughly as I wad in this book. I HIGHLY recommend reading/listening to this series. And as usual, Greg Boudreaux is a fantastic narrator, so talented with all the characters and accents he had to portray. He really brought this to life in the best way. Thanks for an epic book!
