Publisher's summary

Facing boredom after his long-postponed knee surgery, Jack volunteers at Fitz Morton Manor to serve as steward, chatting with visitors about the long history of the house. And when the retired volunteer Cyril Roebuck is found dead in the Great Hall, one morning, it seems at first that the dear old man must have suffered a heart attack. But the room was locked from the inside - and it quickly becomes clear that Cyril could not have bolted it. Soon Jack and Sarah are confronting the odd mystery of the locked room... and what must be - in fact - a case of foul play.

Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack. Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby. Each of the self-contained episodes is a quick read for the morning commute, while waiting for the doctor, or when curling up with a hot cuppa.

Co-authors Neil Richards (based in the UK) and Matthew Costello (based in the US), have been writing together since the mid-90s, creating innovative content and working on major projects for the BBC, Disney Channel, Sony, ABC, Eidos, and Nintendo to name but a few. Their transatlantic collaboration has underpinned scores of TV drama scripts, computer games, radio shows, and the best-selling mystery series Cherringham. Their latest series project is called Mydworth Mysteries.

The narrator of the audiobook, Neil Dudgeon, has been in many British television programmes including the roles of "DCI John Barnaby" in Midsomer Murders and "Jim Riley" in The Life of Riley. He is also known for his film roles in The Nativity, Sorted and Son of Rambow. In 2012 Dudgeon starred as "Norman Birkett" on BBC Radio 4's Afternoon Play series written by Caroline and David Stafford.

A Template for Cozy Mysteries

The Cherringham Cozy Crime Series is everything I love about cozy crime. Costello and Richards develop characters that you love and mysteries that are intriguing. The narration by Dudgeon, switching from character to character with ease, brings it all to life with perfect intonation and wit. His voice has become my go-to for relaxation during stressful times. ‘In The Frame’ is the 42nd in the series. I have listened to each many times. The individual characters continue to grow in their strength, intelligence, and humility and are seasoned with good humor. This addition to the series had me laughing out loud at the end. Costello, Richards, and Dudgeon are the trifecta of cozy mysteries.

One of my favorites!

This episode is a locked room mystery that manages to be especially amusing. Though the episode does start with a death under puzzling circumstances, it becomes a more lighthearted episode that evolves into the absurd at the denouement. Enjoy!

My favorite of all series

I have listened. to all of these, and I have relisten to all of these. I’m always so happy when a new one comes out. My only complaint is that they are over far too quickly. They’re so well narrated, and the stories are a delight. Every character is perfect, especially the two main characters. if I could only listen to one audiobook series, this would be it. Endlessly.

Enjoyable and Cosy Mystery

Always enjoy this series and the narrator.
Lovely characters, great dialogues, fun mystery. Like many reviewers pointed out, time flies with each episode. I hope the authors will come out with another longer book (only 2 of the longer book so far).

Kees getting better!

A dependable use of time - you know what you’re getting and the stories from Cherringham roll on. With each new book I’m convinced they’ll have become romantic and yet, 40+ adventures along….
Well done :-)

A Welcome Addition to the Series

What can I say? This is one of my favorite series. The stories are always well constructed and the performance again here, was spot on. Great inflection, cadence, and tone. Dudgeon's skill in this regard adds immeasurably to bringing the story alive and brings the humor to the fore. Costello and Richards craft entertaining stories, character development, and ploy twists, and Dudgeon makes them shine. What a treat!

Buy and listen to every one of these; they really are wonderful.

Highly recommended.
