Publisher's summary

When someone kidnaps the last surviving descendant of the Grandmaster of the Knights Templar, it's bad news. When the baby is the key to the tenuous alliance between a large werewolf pack and the knights, it's even worse news. They're at each other's throats before they've even begun to look for baby Constance.

But whoever kidnapped Constance didn't count on one thing: She's also the goddaughter of John Charming, modern-day descendant of a long line of famous dragon slayers, witch finders, and wrong righters. John may not have any experience being a parent, but someone is about to find out that he can be one mean mother.

Great series

Any additional comments?

Great 4th book in the Pax Arcana series. Narrator does a great job with a growing cast. The author has a developing cast with good chemistry and plenty of humor. Elliot James is fantastic at mixing in humor without mucking up the storyline. A must listen for anyone who likes this series!

Another great one in the series

First off as always the narrator was absolutely perfect. I listen to this during the holidays so there would be long gaps between the opportunity to continue with the book. I had to rewind a few times because there’s a lot of names and stories going on but it was an excellent book.

Another great listen

I'm a big fan of Elliott James' writing. The snappy dialog, supernatural characters and high octane fighting of his stories is very entertaining. So far not one of the novels or short stories has disappointed. The characters are not stereotypical or stagnant like in some series. They grow, learn and you get to find out some back story too. Just enough to be intrigued.

In Shining Armor continues where the previous novel left off and to say this latest adventure is fast paced is an understatement. Turbo charged is more like it.

As to the narration, it's hard to pinpoint what makes one narrator more enjoyable to listen to than another, but IMHO, Roger Wayne is a perfect fit for John Charming's dry wit and sarcasm. His timing is superb, adding zing to a comment, that more than once had me laughing out loud.

ISA (as with the others in the series) is a keeper for me, to be relistened to with pleasure again and again. And I dearly hope that some time soon Elliott James' short stories (narrated by Roger Wayne) will become available too.

Enjoy!

Great Narration, Elite Character, ok Story

There is lots of fun here with the main Character, and that is why I enjoy the series so much. Well that and I respect Roger Wayne, as he is a top notch Narrator. Narration to me is almost more important than the story, and the Narration is elite. The Story had me go back, more than a few times to try and figure out what was occurring, the action kind gets the listener lost. If you miss any short detail, you will likely be lost. Regardless, I still enjoyed the book, but I thought the first couple were better than this one. I hooked on the series and want more.

Four and three quarter stars

This one wasn't as good as the other books but it was still very entertaining. I look forward to the next book.

Another solid performance!

it's tough to hold a consistent story over several books, but Elliott James is doing it. heading into book five, still loving these characters and the performance from Roger Wayne.

better and better!

This was the best pax arcana book so far. I really enjoy the author's humor and the great delivery of the humor by the narrator.

I have a bit of a sailors mouth, so I love the fact that he doesn't avoid the use of colorful language. To me, it makes the dialogue seem more real.

Best narrator, ever. Story ain't bad either :)

The narration is superb, with such a natural yet lively style. The book is great too, with just the right flow to keep me in the story, and looking forward to more. Excellent combination!

Great Narrator decent story

Sig is the worst girlfriend the only thing she is worse at than girlfriending is investigating and using cover. She makes John look bad in front of his pack and the Knights. She held a grudge over secrets that have nothing to do with her. She asks personal question she has no right to even at bad times. Nick is pissed and Sig outted John as John because she can't keep her mouth shut. John really shouldnt be in a relationship either. He needs to get his own head right, but Sig is just kinda awful. Her good qualities even have bad rationale. Love me some Mols. Sarah is a bad ass, that would have been an interesting relationship with the preconceptions they each hold about the others. Sig is just awful. Parth is also a truly terrible character.
