Publisher's Summary
Whether you’re a sunling or an earthling, growing up isn’t easy. Shy nine-year-old Gustafer Yellowgold has to grapple with neighborhood bullies, an over-achieving brother, and parental expectations just like kids on Earth do. He would rather lose himself in comic books and dream the day away than make deliveries for his father’s raisin-butchering business after school. Fateful events put Gustafer at his ultimate crossroad when he sees a darker opportunity to control his own destiny on the Sun.
Two-time Grammy nominee Morgan Taylor has long been a hit equally with ever-hip parents and kids on the family circuit with his smart and catchy multimedia concerts. At last, he gets to tell the full backstory of his creation, Gustafer. Featuring 13 brand new songs and fresh recordings of three fan favorites, all produced by Pat Sansone of Wilco, this captivating Audible Original is great for family listening as well as for kids ages six and up to discover and enjoy on their own. Besides hours of delightful storytelling and music, listeners will take away some mildly revolutionary life lessons: Be yourself, no matter what your age, and don’t be afraid to take your own path.
Enjoy a special bonus in Chapter 14, with an exclusive full album of the songs featured in I’m from the Sun. You will also get a free PDF download including key character art and scenes from the hand of Morgan Taylor, and a complete lyric compendium too! Only from Audible.

Loved it!
So entertaining and fun. Unlike anything I've heard before; children's story meets old-school radio drama meets Queen-style pop/rock meets... the sun!?! Kids and adults will be thoroughly entertained by this audio book. The story is totally original and the songs are amazing. We listened in the car on a road trip and immediately got hooked. Creative!
This story captures the childlike side of us all which we learn to mask as we grow toward adulthood - the competitiveness, bullying, gentle spirit, secrets, super heroes, love of speed, and every child (and adult’s) desire to be special are present.
The ballad-like music is a great story extender, with the lyrics adding depth to the plot and the gentle tone easy to listen to.
The concept of Yellowgold’s community on the sun is creative and is carried out in imagination-stretching nuances. I found myself listening for the details that compare and contrast Sun-life and Earth-life. Nicely done.
This was a fun story. I enjoyed it.

Awesome book!
The story plot might be predictable, but it took several twists and turns on the way making for a fun listen. We've Loved Gustafer for Years!
There is still SO little kids' music that will not drive parents out of the room-- and that tells a truly creative story full of wonder and weirdness. Gustafer and his ever-growing crowd of buddies send the imagination off in all kinds of unexpected directions. The songs are catchy but also rich and surprising enough to be listened to many many times. My kids and I would follow Mr. Yellowgold anywhere, including to the sun. Check him out!!

Story & music with the power to enhance childhood!
It is not an overstatement to say that the music of, and backstory to, the tale of Gustafer Yellowgold changed my family's life. Thanks to Morgan Taylor's creation, my daughters grew up over the past decade knowing that there are alternatives to pop culture and that those alternatives can be weird and wonderful. The Gustafer Yellowgold songs are funny, charming, introspective and touch on universal topics of family, friends, food, and finding your place in the world. I cannot recommend this Audible story enough for you and your family!
