Awesome MMM listen :)

I loved this story when I first read the book. It had such great characters and captivating plot!
I was anxious about audio version because I did not want it to alter my perception of this title. It was totally unnecessary! The audio version is great and the narrator did a great job differentiating the MCs and giving them even more substance and character. Totally worth both reading and listening to!

Friends-to-Lovers Done Well

This is about three friends who become lovers. The three guys are a joy to hear about, likable and relatable. I enjoyed that they had excellent communication with each other and that it took them some time to realize, admit and then welcome such a relationship. The narration was done well. My only complaint was that it seemed a bit rushed at times. Outside of that, Piers Ryman has a lovely voice and really brings the story to life. His character voices were nicely distinct, even slurring when the MC was drunk. Overall, an enjoyable listen. So if you enjoy M/M/M romances then you should give this one a shot.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great story!

I love this story of three friends becoming lovers. Seb, Matt, and Connor are each great guys, and they have supported each other through good times and bad since they were children. When Seb is dumped by his long-term lover, he convinces his friends to go on a camping trip, where he drunkenly kisses both Connor and Matt. Connor has always been straight, and Connor has reasons for not wanting a relationship at all; but those things don't seem to matter when there are suddenly feelings all over the place between the three of them.
It's interesting to watch these men figure things out, and a terrific narrator just adds to the experience. I already loved this sweet and sexy story, and now I know that the audiobook is one I will listen to again and again. Great story!

I enjoyed this one.

This is the second audiobook I've listened to by Piers Ryman. I think he did a really good job with this one. The voices he used are heavily accented but I'm not exactly sure which British accent it is. It's a bit different from what I'm used to but easy and pleasing to listen to once I got used to it.

This is the second book I've read by Colette Davison and I liked it a lot. I Wished for You is about three good friends who unexpectedly discover that they feel more than friendship for each other. Friends-to-lovers is one of my favorite tropes and this one was very good.

Each of the MCs in the story has their own problem but they support each other and work well as a unit once they admit their feelings for each other. They have to deal with the usual coming out as a thruple things but they also have to deal with a separation of several months. Just when everything seems like it will be OK, tragedy strikes. It's a romance so I was pretty certain there would be an HEA and there was.

Overall this was an easy to listen to story, it kept my interest and I enjoyed it.

A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

Good friends-to-lovers story with low angst

I liked this friends-to-lovers story between Seb, Matt, and Connor. I expected a bit more angst, especially since Seb was recently dumped and Matt was straight. I was glad there wasn't a lot of angst. There were things to work out for the guys (such as the rebound, their friendship, Matt's realization he wants them, how to make a relationship between 3 guys work), but they talked about it and moved forward instead of letting things simmer and get frustrating. I listened to this on audiobook, and it was well done and enjoyable.

A perfect romance for me!

I received a free copy of this audiobook to listen to and review for Wicked Reads.

Oddly enough, I Wished for You has proven to be a rather difficult audiobook to write a review for. I say it’s odd because I thoroughly enjoyed both the story and the narration but am at a loss for words to properly explain why. You see, for me, it’s so well-balanced that I’m not sure where to start. Colette Davison has written a story that gives me the perfect amount of romance, self-discovery, angst, drama, baggage, and love, and then went and topped it off with an extra guy. So, I’ve not only had the pleasure of listening to a story that has hit all my warm and fuzzy romance boxes perfectly, but she made it a polyamorous romance that develops among three guys who have been friends since school. It’s practically the perfect romance for me. That’s not to say that Seb, Matt, and Connor have it easy as I did say there’s the right amount of angst and drama, but it was enough of both to satisfy my appetite yet not so much that I was over it. While I’m trying to avoid specifics because I think readers and listeners should get to encounter the various obstacles and successes the guys encounter along the way on their own, I have to say that I think what really did it for me was that the guys were so considerate of one another’s needs – emotional and physical – and did all that they could to allow each other to move at their own speed. There was a concerted effort by each man not to pressure his other partners to move faster than they were ready for and I found that level of consideration to be… see, word loss, because heartwarming isn’t the word I’m going for, but I can’t think of the perfect word to express how much this touched me.

As for the narration, Piers Ryman was awesome. I believe this is the first audiobook I’ve listened to in which all the characters are British, and I adored it. Even though I love a British accent, I’ve been hesitant to listen to an audiobook in which all the characters are British (or maybe I haven’t found one yet), but upon listening to the sample and hearing the slur of a drunk, broken-hearted Seb, I had to hear the whole thing. While I’m not naïve (or ignorant) enough to say that all British people sound alike, I’m not educated on the specific accents, so I can’t even begin to suggest where the lads are from. What I will say is that despite there being three main male characters and Ryman having to perform them as both sober and intoxicated (as well as other heightened emotions) at various points in the story, not once was I confused as to who was speaking – this includes when I would cue the book back up after several hours to resume listening to it after work. Seb, Matt, and Connor’s voices were so distinct from one another that it made it far easier to listen to than I anticipated, which only made it even more enjoyable. I Wished for You is a first for me from both Colette Davison and Piers Ryman, but I certainly hope to be able to read and/or listen to more by both the author and the narrator.

Good vocal performance, not much too the story

For a story with a triad relationship, friends-to-lovers, sexual identity discovery, a 30-something virgin and parental issues, this one was low angst until the ‘twist’ at the end and was really pretty simple. Seb’s epiphany while camping felt a bit rushed but other than that the pacing of the story felt right for the characters and what they are experiencing.

I always like friends-to-lovers stories…the shared history and established love makes for a more solid relationship. The life-long friendship and bond these three share made the switch to lovers effortless. The trust necessary in such a relationship already exists so the exploration of the triad is a bit more natural for them.

I like all the characters equally…not one stands out over the others.

The vocal performance is very good. Each voice is distinct and the emotions he brought to the story made it more enjoyable than just reading the book. I’m glad I listened instead of reading.

Really good Menage

4.25 Stars Overall!

I won't claim to be an expert, I've probably read/listened to a handful or so of menages, but I found this one to be quite original and the triad to be very equilibrated. Seb, Connor and Matt seemed to be in fairly equal footing in their relationship and I thought they had a lot of chemistry. The progression from lifelong friends into lovers was well-done, even if it did drag a bit in some parts. However, all of the guys were very likable and I did believe they had what it takes to make a menage-a-trois work in the long run.

The narration was really good. Piers Ryman did a great job giving each of the characters a very distinct voice. His tone was very pleasant and he delivered a very solid performance, giving the story with that extra bit of emotion where it was needed.

All in all, if you're a fan of MMM, you should definitely give this one a try. It was quite enjoyable!

Sexy trupple

I loved the writing a sexy story. It did lack some activities but it was a good time.
The narrator was good but at times I felt like he was to old sounding for these younger men

Overall it was a good listen

Very nice to listen to a British accent for a British book

Seb was in shock after he was dumped by his long time boyfriend. While very drunk he decided they need to go camping, in the middle of winter. When they all make wishes on falling stars they didn’t know that they all wished the same wish in one form or another. Seb drunkenly kisses both of his straight friends. But he wasn’t as drunk as Connor and Matt thought he was. The night changes everything for all three men.

Seb wants to get over his ex and isn’t sure why all the sudden he is so attracted to his best friends. Matt isn’t gay, but the attraction to Connor and Seb is undeniable. Connor has never had a real relationship and is afraid to take a chance, specially with his best friends.

Confusion abounds. They all had to decide what their new normal would be and each man thoughtfully worked through their own particular issues. I liked that it took some time for them to realize that each man was exactly what the others needed. The intricacies of the menage element was well done.

Wishing for more than friendship.

Three good friends who fall in love with each other. Seb, Matt and Connor have been friends for ages. While helping Seb celebrate his birthday, the 3 men make a wish that will eventually make them a throuple. It's a lovely story of friendship, love, loss and finding confidence.
OMG - I loved the narration. Piers Ryman really nailed the characters of each of the men: Seb the exuberant one; Matt, the solid one and Connor, the unsure one. He was great with the humour and the heat between the various couplings. I really enjoyed the narration, definitely a great way to enjoy the story.

I was lucky enough to receive this book on request. The opinions are freely expressed and without bias.
