I loved everything about the story! I love Carolyn Brown’s writing! The only thing I didn’t care too much about was the narrator but I think because I’ve enjoyed all of her other audible books narrators were awesome! Still loved everything about this book!!

Possible Spoilers:
Daisy O’Dell is 28 and is the owner of the Honky Tonk Bar which she inherited from her mentor, Ruby Lee. She’s lived in this small town since her car broke down 7 years earlier and has a community of friends and neighbors that currently fulfill her need for home and family.
Then Jared McElroy is sent by his family to move in with Uncle Emmett who has been seriously declining since his wife Mavis passed. Ranch, livestock, house, & Uncle Emmett all need attention. But when Jared comes to the Honky Tonk, the attraction between Daisy and Jared is instantly notable. It takes time for both to build their love & trust. The next book in the series is set up for Cathy O’Dell, Daisy’s cousin and the new owner of the Honky Tonk.
Cassandra Myles has the voice of a teenager and was an awful choice as narrator for this story taking place in a bar. The FMC is 28, the MMC is 35. Her voice really doesn’t lend itself to this story.

Poor match for narration

I didn’t care for the Fowl language that was sprinkled through the whole book because of that I could leave the book

Didn’t like the language

This book.wasn't awful. I was surprised by all of the judgemental characters. Jared wanted to judge Daisy for owning and running a bar until he found out she was also a vet tech. Emmett wanted Daisy to give up her bar so she could marry Jared.Daisy judging a woman who came into her bar regularly and subsequently ended up being one of her best friends.

There waa no one in the book that I really disliked, not even Jared's crotchety old uncle. I did like that Daisy put Jared's SIL in her place. I also liked that she got an apology from his mother.

Daisy and Jared's relationship wasn't A slow burn, it was just slow. The audio book was 9.5 hours and it really shouldn't have taken as long to end up where we did. I would give it 2.5 stars.

2.5 Stars of Ok. Narration Was Ok.
