Publisher's Summary

A sometimes serious, often hilarious, and always inspiring guide that encourages young women to live a life full of ownership, confidence, and freedom, written and read by singer and popular Scream Queens and Grease Live! actress Keke Palmer.

As a successful music artist, actress, and talk show host from inner city Chicago, Keke has always used her social media following and platform for real talk about the issues that matter most to her generation, but now she is speaking out candidly and for the first time about the secrets, struggles, and practices that have guided her to succeed. On the surface it may appear that Keke has it made, but under the success she has grappled with the same issues all young women wrestle with - identity, pressure, self-worth, love, sexuality, heartbreak, and family.

With this in mind, she created I Don't Belong to You — an inspirational guide that encourages young people to change their mind-set and live with more freedom, confidence, and love as they navigate the rough terrain of the 21st century. Full of revealing stories from Keke's personal and professional lives, this book tackles twelve topics - sexuality, race, anxiety, success, bullying, and body image, to name a few - with refreshing honesty.

Within each chapter are quotes, texts, and song lyrics that have inspired her and practices that can help you stay on a path of always growing, never grown. With a voice of empathy, tough love, and determination, Keke speaks about the challenges and triumphs she has experienced on her journey to finding her own voice and creating a beautiful life. I Don't Belong to You is the motivation you need to move past pain and fear to lead a life full of creativity, spirituality, passion, and unlimited success.

Not that interesting

As mentioned in other reviews, she is repetitive. For example, "the gag is" was stuck in my head for awhile after this book. This is extremely inspirational, however, seems directed to a younger audience. I do believe there a many people that would benefit from this book because of the positive messages. Just not my cup of tea

From The Mouth of Babes.....

I absolutely loved listening to this young, gifted and inspiring young lady. Many times older people think younger people don't know enough about life to teach. I certainly, in the past, been guilty of this, but as I spent time with my nieces and nephews I quickly realized I was wrong. I applaud her for making a record in history that she can be proud of. When she is in her forty's can be astounded at the wisdom she imparted and say, "#IDidThat!"

A inspirational guide book for all ***A MUST READ

Would you consider the audio edition of I Don't Belong to You to be better than the print version?

YES I would consider this particular audio edition especially since its the actual author KeKe as the narrator I think I enjoy hearing KeKe speak her truth with this audiobook even though there's nothing like holding the actual book in your hands.

Who was your favorite character and why?

KeKe because she did not sugar coat anything and she gave every detail for each chapter by not leaving any stone unturned. She actually bring the story to life.

Which scene was your favorite?

I would have to say Chapter 9 Heaven is a Place on earth very inspiring spiritually and mentally. She really saved the best for last. There's no greater love than loving yourself inside and out and sharing it with the world

What did you learn from I Don't Belong to You that you would use in your daily life?

Self motivation and helping others when you're going through your storm. Being your own hero. Daily motivational quotes, " I'm stronger because I had to be, I'm smarter because of my mistakes, happier because of the sadness I've known, and now wiser because I learned."

Any additional comments?

I've really enjoyed reading this book it's truly a God-given gift to help with day to day obstacles we each face. It's a truly a life changing book for women of all ages, races and backgrounds. I'm actually going to start a book club for young women who I admire that went through hardships and still encourage each other daily.

Great Story

Keke thanks for sharing your story. Wise beyond your years. Yes I could live without all the hashtags but it wouldn’t be you without it. It’s sad that most adults still haven’t come to see their own truths about themselves let alone and try to get help.

Awoken

This book gave me a better understanding on child stars that do not end up on drugs. It reminded me that it’s okay to be lost and kindness still exists. A must read

This book was absolutely painful to listen to I'm sure it was more painful to read with all the damn hashtags. The author wrote this book like one giant Twitter feed. It wasn't until the end when she started writing like a real adult. The overall message of the book is very good, very inspiring for today's generation however it's still painful and I think dumbs down the current generation.

Spiritually Aligned

Listening to the audible book reminded me of how inter-connected we are as humans! It was as if Keke and I have lived “similar” lives in regards to our journey towards healing, ambition (yet humble), aligning with Spirit, evolving in all types of ways in this lifetime, etc (both seekers of ancient wisdom). This book was a lil’ inside scoop of the fakery that exists in Hollywood, the beauty of Spirituality, and the nourishment of Positive Psychology. I absolutely enjoyed listening to this on my work commutes.

I decided to buy the audible edition of the book because I thoroughly enjoyed the book copy version. The way that the book was read made me feel as if it was a conversation and I could honestly relate to her stories and tribulations and it was a great self help, made me open my eyes and view life in a whole new way. I loved it and would read it again and definatley recommend it to anyone and everyone!
