A Delight From Start to Finish

This is one of those books that really are improved and best enjoyed in audio. Anthony Daniels's performance is so perfect, both as an author and just as a reader. A real treat.

Now I’m not saying don’t get the physical book, I’m sure there’s photos and much more. However to hear this story told by Mr. Anthony Daniels is a real treat. I grew up watching Star Wars. I can’t actually remember the age I was first introduced because my mom had always been a fan.

C3PO has been and will always be one of my favorite characters and droid. Every time I go to Disney I ride Star Tours because I love C3PO. To learn the man behind the mask loves him as much as the fans do makes my heart smile.

Mr. Daniels leaves behind a legacy will remain in the hearts of fans forever. For that I thank you Mr. Daniels.

greatest book on Star Wars ever written!

Anthony Daniels did an amazing job! it was such a pleasure to read as it was to meet him on a few occasions over the years. Masterfully read as well as written it is the best book I have had the pleasure of listening to on the subject love making and living the Star Wars universe. it made me laugh it made me cry it made me want more of C-3PO . well done Tony!

The Droid Speaks

What a pleasure to hear another aspect of not only the Star Wars saga but in the voice of on its most endearing characters. It looks easy on film. It isn’t. Appreciated his openness and honesty. A very good listen.

Lots of good insights on all the movies and non Star Wars appearances. Interesting takes on directors and fellow cast members. Great stuff about JW and the music.

Bird’s eye view from behind the mask

Anthony Daniels does a superb job of narrating his own life story that is intricately intwined with the Star Wars saga.

I really enjoyed this book! I was curious to hear exactly what the experience was like for himself as well as interacting with the other actors on set. Far from a gossip columnist mentality that some autobiographies save up to dish the dirt, Daniels merely discusses personalities along with excellent Vocal imitations. And amusement I had not anticipated or expected, but added to the story for me.

What I enjoyed the most about his story was telling about how he was essentially forgotten as a major player in the original trilogy which I grew up with. Honestly it never occurred to me to really think hard about how difficult it would’ve been to be in that costume all the time during a 10 to 12 hour or longer shoot. The claustrophobic nature he experienced as well as the real danger from tripping and falling due to lack of mobility and eyesight that all of us take for granted. Frankly it was almost like being given a severe handicap and having to learn how to play a movie part about overcoming the handicap. I’ve always respected his role in the movies but this insight really captivated me and gave me a newfound appreciation for the work that he had to put in to make this happen versus The other actors who were not as encumbered. David Prowse And Peter Mayhew and of course Kenny Baker would be the others who would fall into this unique circumstance. However it seems as though an Anthony Daniels character had the most physical and visual impairments to play his role.

I also enjoyed the very end of the movie when he came to terms with his involvement with this Cultural phenomenon which is not just important in the English-speaking world but the entire globe. I’m really thankful that he was a part of this movie and told his story. Anthony Daniels is a true professional.

an excellent insight for any original time fan

i was born in 1988, and loved the original trilogy though I grew up rewatching the special edition VHS. Anthony Daniels is amazing. he IS c-3po. I played star wars Monopoly on PC circa 1997 and guess who voiced c-3po... Lego movie (mentioned in book) old commercials.
this novel was a constant joy to listen to. even knowing so much about the originals, I learned even more. and I've listened star wars minute podcasts.
I couldn't ask for any more. and have been constantly telling my friends about little nuggets of goldenrod goodness from this book.

Thank you for showing us the other side of the making of the amazing nine (9) movies Anthony Daniels. Thank you for humanizing C-3PO for me since a teenager to my daughter as a little girl. Star Wars will forever be in our hearts and souls. I always knew you must have suffered in that costume and since both my husband and I once worked in the industry, we know how much time it takes to get through even just one day on a set. You must have suffered horribly while in the costume. Your suffering in it created a wonderful character which forever will be most loved by us. Thank you for enriching our lives.

The book describes how difficult film making is and I love seeing so much of the side of production most never get anywhere near. So happy I've gotten to spend these almost 10 hours with you. So enjoyable and entertaining.
