"Like many sci-fi authors, Bradbury predicted many of today’s less admirable achievements, such as earbuds and huge TVs. So not surprisingly, this 1953 title is timeless. Penn Badgley, pleasant-voiced and convincing, is an outstanding narrator. His tone resonates with personality, and his subtle character shifts are effective, especially as he portrays this novel’s antihero, a fireman whose job is to burn books. Badgley’s pace is quick yet easy to follow. Even longer monologues are clearly phrased. He can offer a warm observation one minute and turn into a cold commentator the next, skillfully making Bradbury’s message accessible. At one point, exhorting the protagonist to actively embrace life, one character says, “Stuff your eyes with wonder.” This audiobook invites you to do the same with your ears."

love the story and how the setting is placed in, one by one. Love it!

Amazing this was written almost 75 years ago; prophetic

Unfortunately this is as meaningful and appropriate today as 75 years ago. Thoughtful and hard to put down.

So much Deja Vu.

The idea of happiness only allowed to exist and nothing negative is terrifying and gives fascism. I also don't like the idea of burning books because it represents the destruction of free thought and freedom of speech. Just the idea of a group of people rewriting books from memory is astounding. I feel like that's a game of "telephone" gone wrong. (Read date: November 23rd to November 24th, 2025)

Bland dialogue

Sooo disappointed in the dialogue. It’s like he read it once and was ok with the product

Penn Badgley is the best Audible narrator EVER!

My headline says it all! I think Ray Bradbury would be VERY pleased with Penn's audio performance of "Fahrenheit 451."
By far my favorite Audible selection thus far.
