There was a time when hypnosis was a recognized door towards meditation. In the Middle Ages hypnosis was condemned alongside witchcraft. That condemnation still lingers on. Osho speaks here about hypnosis as a very helpful tool to enter into meditation.

An eye opener

Hypnosis now makes sense to me! I think No one Could explain hypnosis better than Osho

Hypnotism is laid out as a valid tool that has been demonized by Christianity.

Osho makes it clear that it was demonized because it might lead to meditation thus cutting out the priests and all the middle men between you and God. If a person meditates regularly they may very well come to know God. He then goes into the process of how people are hypnotized and then mentions how hypnotism can be abused. He then offers advice on self hypnosis and the utilization of a tape recorder. The end of this Osho talk goes in-depth about how people are wearing masks and when you meditate the mask has a tendency to fall off but this is not a bad thing. That which is falling off is the false personality, the mask and should not be held onto too tightly. While this may not have been his best Osho talk, the conversation about Christianity saying hypnotism is of the devil needed to happen.
