First of all, let me start with the most important point for me—the voice. I knew it was artificial and gave it a chance. I disliked it strongly. The monotonoua cadence made me drift off countless times. It's not the same as listening to a person, especially one who has knowledge on the topic and even more because of the topic itself. Eventually I finished it but it wasn't a pleasant experience for me.

Second, the content. This "reads" like a hastily done project assignment, however, one which still has value. It covers a broad spectrum of topics albeit superficially. This has two sides to it: one, I got exposed to a lot of perspectives, which made me create a more global view of the problem and actually helped me gain a footing when I reflected and overlayed it with my experience. In other words, the structure and framework of the book is quite good; two, I learned about a lot of new things and ideas but the book didn't get too much in the details, so I was left with a lot of notes and references for further studying.

Overall, if you look at the book as a framework or a map about handling the problem of social skills, it's good. I, in fact, learned a lot—got ideas, perspectives and even did some reflection that actually helped me understand a few things about past interactions and relationship and myself. This book is simply the beginning. If you're just starting on this journey, this book sets you off and can serve as a good guide for what's to come and expect. There's a ton more to read, learn and practice after it.

A good, broad overview of the social skills problem, ideal for beginners, narrated by a motonous artifical voice.

I wasn't learning anything. “Rolling the eyes can indicate annoyance,” and other obvious stuff. I listened to 20 minutes, then stopped.

Poor, at least the first partl
