The Code of the Extraordinary Mind is a blueprint of laws to break us free from the shackles of ordinary life. It makes a case that everything we know about the world is mostly decided not by rational choice but instead by conditioning and habit. And thus most people live their lives based on limiting rules and outdated beliefs about pretty much everything - love, work, money, parenting, sex, health, and more - that they inherit and pass on from generation to generation.

Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.

Some of us even seek out pain and humiliation in sexual role-play. Where do these seemingly perverse appetites come from? Drawing on groundbreaking findings from psychology and brain science, The Sweet Spot shows how the right kind of suffering sets the stage for enhanced pleasure.

Like having an intimate conversation
I love hearing Jonathan read his own words it feels like an intimate conversation with a wise and compassionate friend who's giving you excellent advice that totally resonates. I've listened to Jonathan on his podcast and videos and even live but there's something about feeling like he's talking just to me that has a big impact.
This is a book that you can ingest in little bites and apply the idea immediately. I come back when I need a bit more inspiration and it never feels like too much. Other self help books that I've read haven't stayed with me the way this one is, partly because there's an amazing community of people going through the material together which makes me feel supported.
There were a couple moments that I thought, "I already do that", like dance like nobody's watching, and it made me feel encouraged that I'm on the right track. I can honestly say that my life is better already because I've implemented some of the concepts in this book. My good life buckets are filling up and balancing, thanks Jonathan.

A new, improved "bucket list."
What made the experience of listening to How to Live a Good Life the most enjoyable?
I loved the stories, the author's vulnerability and the practical wisdom throughout. Also, having listened to lots of audio books (and having heard Jonathan's podcasts), it's so nice to hear the author's own voice reading it. It's a sweet, poignant reminder (with seem really great examples) and plan (his accompanying journal is fantastic) to create balance, fulfillment and joy.

Very worthwhile Audible Daily Deal!
Due to my stage in life (74.5 years old, married almost 49 years, father of three and grandfather of six, retired from a very rewarding career) How to Live a Good Life applies less to me than to those half my age. As one who participated in several similar programs during my business career and constantly worked to maintain a healthy balance between my career, my family (especially my responsibilities as a husband and father), and other relationships, it seems to me that Jonathan Fields' "buckets" concept is superior to other methods that I used. My impression is that it would prove valuable to almost anyone who tried it. The basic goals are to understand oneself thoroughly and to gradually change aspects that are causing your life to be less than you hope for.
I recommend this book!

Soul-filled and inspiring with actionable steps!
What made the experience of listening to How to Live a Good Life the most enjoyable?
Hearing the author reading the book, you could tell he put his heart and soul into it. Also listening to it while out walking in the forest and filling that vitality bucket!
What did you like best about this story?
That each section is short, impactful, and has something you can do immediately to help you build a good life.
What does Jonathan Fields bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Jonathan has a very soothing and genuine presence. It comes across in his writing but his humanity comes through in the audiobook. It's like you are having a conversation, not being talked at like many non-fiction books.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The biggest reaction I had was feeling the comfort of knowing I'm not the only one struggling with these things.
Any additional comments?
Fantastic Audio book! Usually, I prefer to read, but I got as much enjoyment and wisdom out of this audiobook as I did the book. Soo good!

Got into its realism.
Excellent representation of basics in a way easily digestible. Most of these books shove the habits down your throat. Jonathan does it in a way that doesn't go heavy on the do or die but on the realistic approach it is ok to start slow but develop the consistency. That consistency point is where he hit the right tempo. Recommended easy read, a good voice to settle into.

Creating my new life
I bought this Audible version as well as the print book and having both is invaluable. I love hearing Jonathan speak his own words and it's easy to repeat sections I need to hear more than once. He's been a great companion during walks and morning Nordic Trac sessions. And yet having the print book makes it easy to refer to and use the visuals.
I'm a GLP camper times 2 and heading back again this year. Like the camp, what this book does is allow me options for exploration to create the life I want, in my way. It's exciting. Scary. And it's happening. Thank you Jonathan.

Actionable guide to Living a Good Life NOW
What did you love best about How to Live a Good Life?
I love that this book can be devoured and savored. It's written to give you thirty days of small steps that will move you forward but I couldn't help myself and listened to the entire book as quickly as possible and then could go back and take the actionable steps.
What was one of the most memorable moments of How to Live a Good Life?
I loved hearing the author's voice reading the passages. Hearing Jonathan's inflections and pacing really helped me feel like I was in the room with him having a conversation.
Have you listened to any of Jonathan Fields’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I've seen Jonathan live and he doesn't disappoint. Hearing him bring this book to life is amazing.
What insight do you think you’ll apply from How to Live a Good Life?
I'm definitely going to make the three buckets part of my daily life. I've already increased my meditation practice.
