The dark road of revenge

Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is any honest review. Narrated by Charlie Albers, this is a quirky and different kind of story from this author. The characters of Ashleigh and Bryan weren't done many favors from the start as both are the kinds of individuals anyone would love to murder for how they see other people and correspondingly treat people because of it. Curtis, with his deep desire to get back at Bryan for all the abusive behavior he had to endure as a kid is the fantasy anyone with similar experiences would love to be able to live out regardless of any consequences that comes from it.

The more you uncover, the more complicated revenge is.

Highly recommended.

Do I, do I not...

This is not a bulletin of steps and you're done, to the end. This is a wonderfully complex yet simple story, or should I say, a simple yet complex one?
I love how this starts so innocently, and sad, and then it is all about whose name is who and who did what??
I will say that this story is very exhilerating for anyone who has been raped in any form. It lets you get out some of that baggage along the story.

An Outstanding Ride

When I started this audiobook, I was so absorbed by the story, I avoided completing all other daily responsibilities and stayed up to finish the whole book. There were some difficult scenes to listen to, but I couldn't drag myself away. I was captivated by all the twists and turns. I enjoyed the fact that I was never sure where the story was going. With every new story, this author is becoming one of my favorites. I was entertained by Charlie Albers' narration as her performance kept my attention. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

Doesn’t everyone want to know how to commit the perfect murder? 💄👜🩸📒
This book is a humorous, revenge thriller story! It has an exciting storyline that really kept me on my toes from start to finish! There are lots of surprising twists throughout and I like the multiple POV’s to keep it extra entertaining.
The story follows Ashleigh, who is a well to do woman. When she becomes entangled with Curtis and Brian, her life takes on drastic changes.

The ending was a shocker!

The story is very well written, and I definitely enjoyed it, but it wasn’t my favorite book that Jessica Huntley has written.

I listened to the audio version and the narrator is excellent!!

Fun

I became a fan of Jessica Huntley's quickly and this book didn't disappoint. Ashleigh is your stereotypical spoiled rich brat, but she's also an intriguing character. As more things are revealed, it just gets better and better. Definitely a fun book and has some shocking moments.

Ms. Huntley's books just keep getting better and better. She has become a favorite for me for psychological thrillers. The blurb says to get a notebook and pen for this one. Yes, you'll need it to keep it all straight, at least for a while. A few different time lines, multiple characters POVs, but hang in there. This book is so worth it. It is dark and full of u turns, but also has humor sprinkled in. Very interesting characters. Very entertaining. I was up all night. Just had to see where it was going, but didn't know til the very end.

Charlie Albers performance of these characters was perfection. She didn't just read this, she performed these characters, she was these characters. A great listening experience. 5 stars +++ for her.

Update- Audiobook review 06/26/2025 - I listened to the audible version of this book and thought the narration was very good. The voice was pleasant, easy listening and nice voice inflections.

A thrilling psychological suspense book. I did have a hard time keeping up with the time lines and whose chapter I was reading occasionally but overall enjoyed the story. I thought I had a few things figured out but then doubted my reasoning as there were several twists. Lots of evil characters to wonder about.

Engaging visceral thriller

This is a psychological thriller told from different point of views and different time lines. I almost gave up on it because one of the characters was whiny and annoying. I’m glad I stayed with it because it doesn’t just have plot twists and turns, it has corkscrews and U-turns too! I just finished it and it evoked a disturbing dark emotional feeling, which I think is a mark of a successful thriller. The narration is outstanding and brought the characters and story to life.
