Cornwell at her best
Another 'binge listen' book which was covered over meal times and bed times.
With a good plot and multiple sub-plots it kept my wife and I listening. Her descriptive writing gave plenty for the imagination to conjure with. Excellent.

Very long and tedious
I gave up before the end, this book is just too boring.
I loved Scarpetta or have I confused the author!? ... this is too long, disjointed, and sorry to say boring.
I hoped it would find its stride but it doesn't.
The narrator's voice is easy to listen too,
Not worth a credit.

Just annoying
I have downloaded some awful books recently, but this is the worst. I have always held the view that a book should always be finished, which is not a difficult task usually, but I couldn’t get much further than 3 or 4 hours in to this. It was just painful to listen to. I used to like Patricia Cornwell’s books but this is soooo irritating. A young Adonis, flirtations with senior police officers, a newspaper workaholic wunderkind...it took me a while to realise it wasn’t going to get better and was in fact going to bug me more.
All that being said, Lorelei King is great.

Slow paced, drawn out and a bit boring
I was a little disappointed with this book after checking out some of the reviews on goodreads. If I’d have checked out reviews on audible first I might not have bothered with it. I’m not saying it was bad, but it was very drawn out to say the least, especially through the middle third of the book which jumped about from one character to another and was mostly irrelevant to the main storyline. In fact the main storyline sort of took a back seat throughout the book and there could have been so much more development of the black widow character rather than wasting time in over developing the protagonists, a lot of which had no relevance to the story. I usually like fast paced, edge of seat, suspenseful thrillers. This is none of the above! I might give Patricia Cornwall another go due to the review that says this is nothing like her other books but if I hadn’t seen that I definitely wouldn’t go back in a hurry!

Cromwell and King combining
At their wonderful BEST! These two make Audible a wonderful way to take in good books.
