In Hope When You’re Hurting, Drs. Larry Crabb and Dan Allender consider four key questions hurting people ask: What’s wrong? Who can help? What will the helper do? And, What can I hope for? In answering these questions, Crabb and Allender shed light on the strengths and weaknesses of different counseling models. They consider the psychological, medical, and spiritual aspects of emotional pain. They examine the role of the church as a vital agent for restoration and growth. And most important, they offer guidance, choices, and hope for people struggling with spiritual and emotional pain. "A thought-provoking book. It calls us to the restorative power of a healing Christian community." — Gary Smalley, President of Today’s Family " . . . a good and deep book." — Siang-Yang Tan, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Psychology, Fuller Theological Seminary Cristianismo Desarrollo Personal Inspiración y Crecimiento Espiritual Ministerio y Evangelismo Orientación Vida Cristiana Éxito Personal

Would you try another book from the authors and/or Larry Crabb and Dan Allender ?

Yes! I believe Larry and Dan are on the right path when speaking about interacting with others in a empathetic way. I believe that no one needs to struggle alone and with the help of others (professional and not) and of course God one can understand and move past the hurt and struggle. I wish they would have gone into more details.

Could you see Hope When You're Hurting being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

no

An okay read

I'm going to listen to this again. It was a great "read". The only thing is I'm not sure where Allenders part fits. Maybe I missed the point. That's another reason I'm going to relisten. And that's why I gave 4/5 stars on story. Crabb was great as usual and offered many insights. Lots of food for thought.

Great listen.
