J. B. Polley was only 21 when the war broke out; he enlisted in Company F of the Fourth Texas Infantry, a regiment in Hood’s Brigade. His book is based on his eyewitness account, the reminiscences of many of his comrades, plus numerous battle reports by various generals. The Texas Brigade distinguished itself for its tenacity throughout the American Civil War.

Narrators strong foreign accent makes it hard to understand. Words are pronounced incorrectly. The story seems to be ok but i had to quit after 30 minutes.

This is one of the finest documented personal accounts of the most elite unit, of either side, to fight in the war. The author was the historian of the brigade and stood next to the men who's story is told.
The narrator is English and really struggles with Native American named rivers and places, but otherwise is energitic and articulate.
