Publisher's summary

After spending four years fighting for the Alliance, fighter pilot Alisa Marchenko wants only one thing: to reunite with her young daughter. But this involves a journey to her former home world, which has become the last imperial stronghold. Since the imperials have a lot of reasons to loathe members of the Alliance right now, just getting down to the planet will be a challenge, and it doesn't help that her passengers are stirring up trouble of their own.

Even if Alisa is able to land, she may find that more questions await her than answers and that her late husband kept a startling secret from her - one that could change her life forever.

Space Opera at its Best

No sophomore slump here. Everything I loved from the first book is still here and just keeps building and getting better. The characters are getting more fleshed out as well as their interactions with the rest of the crew. The same for the story line, more threads are being introduced and woven into the plot. Rescuing her daughter is getting more and more complicated for Captain Marchenko. Kate Reading' narration is as awesome as always.

amazing story... still waiting for the romance

again.... the is listed as a science fiction Adventure as well as romance. I was beginning to wonder if this whole story was about one battle...

as far the relationship building it's formed form barely tolerating each other to a mild flirtation . I enjoyed story enough that I've downloaded the third book they are a total and I'm hoping they get better as they go on this book was not as good as the first.

Similar to Firefly

This series is similar to the Firefly films with the exception that the captain is a woman. What I keep wondering is where have I read, seen or know almost everything that is about to happen in this series. I didn't have it in my vast collection of audiobooks and the series is too new for me to have read it. But I knew what was going to happen in the first 2 books thus far. However, I enjoyed this book and Kate Reading does justice to any series she does.

fun read

This story picks up where the first left off. the saga continues on with some new twists.
Once again an excellent narration Kate Reading brings life and of course good characterisation and depth and believability to the stories very unique individuals.
Lindsay Buroker has become another one of my favorite authors a great story writer I look forward to the rest of the series.
To me this is an excellent example of what a space opera should be. Yes it does remind me of "Firefly" just gritty enough to bring in real life.
And believability to all aspects of the tale.
