Publisher's Summary

Honeybees make decisions collectively-and democratically. Every year, faced with the life-or-death problem of choosing and traveling to a new home, honeybees stake everything on a process that includes collective fact-finding, vigorous debate, and consensus building. In fact, as world-renowned animal behaviorist Thomas Seeley reveals, these incredible insects have much to teach us when it comes to collective wisdom and effective decision making. A remarkable account of scientific discovery, Honeybee Democracy brings together, for the first time, decades of Seeley's pioneering research to tell the amazing story of house hunting and democratic debate among the honeybees.

Most Annoying Book Ever!!

There's useful information in here about Bees but majority of the book is just the Author's self congratulatory journaling. I'd say the book Is < 15% about honeybees and 85% about the Authors experience and scientific method working with bees. I don't even like the Author after reading this book, he loves to go into detail about all the bees he exterminates, says it makes him feel bad and then cracks a bad joke. Cyanide laced honey, why doesn't he eat it? #SavetheBees; the scientific community wouldn't be at any loss. The countless bees he killed to perform science can now be done with hi speed cameras. How has this research helped the proliferation of bees?

Informative & Interesting

A great popular science read. Seeley takes years of research and statistical data and presents it in a dry, but friendly and relatable way.

A must read for bee enthusiasts, cognitive reasearchers, and political scientists.

The world is full of wonder; and the smallest creatures have some of the most interesting stories to share.

You won't BEE disappointed!

What sounds like the nerdiest book for a niche market of enthusiasts or scientists I started this book with guarded expectations.

I was completely mistaken!

Knowing absolutely nothing about bee's other then it hurts when they sting you i found myself fascinated by this book, the bee's and the authors enthusiasm and life work!

It's one of those books your going to have to trust the audible reviews and just give it a shot! You won't BEE disappointed!

Solid book

The book is very cool, In my opinion it gets a little repetitive. The fella that reads kills it, he also did another one of Seeley’s books, he’s got a smooth voice & seems like a stand up cat. If you enjoy bees hearing about all the wild shit they go through during a swarm then this book is for you, not an outrageous commitment of time either. My only complaint l, once again, is that the author does get a bit repetitive. Read on, Listen up!!
