Amber McCloud’s dream is to become cheer captain at the end of the year, but it’s an extra-tall order to be joyful and spirited when the quarterback of your team has been killed in a car accident. For both the team and the squad, watching Robbie get replaced by newcomer Jack Walsh is brutal. And when it turns out Jack is actually short for Jaclyn, all hell breaks loose.

The players refuse to be led by a girl, the cheerleaders are mad about the changes to their traditions, and the fact that Robbie’s been not only replaced but outshined by a QB who wears a sports bra has more than a few Atherton Alligators in a rage. Amber tries for some semblance of unity, but it quickly becomes clear that she's only got a future on the squad and with her friends if she helps them take Jack down.

Just one problem: Amber and Jack are falling for each other, and if Amber can't stand up for Jack and figure out how to get everyone to fall in line, her dream may come at the cost of her heart.

Dahlia Adler's Home Field Advantage is a sparkling romance about fighting for what—or who—you truly want.

Really freaking excellent

I can almost guess the real life viral candid that inspired this story, the one of the female HS football player with her cheerleader gf fixing her hair ... not sure if their story actually inspired this one or not, but this is the book I've been waiting for since I saw that picture either way. well written, fantastic performance, pacing excellent, great character development of main and side characters.

If I had to wish for something, it would be a few more chapters about the fall out or else a sequel of their senior year. (I don't think there is one, but I didn't check.) Their problems aren't all solved, this is a really great happily for now after, and all the major points got resolved, but I'm left feeling like there is more story to tell.

11 Angry Boys

I like the idea of star quarterback Jackyn (Jack), and Amber was appealing and credible in her conflicted emotions. What is Not credible, even among angry homophonic Boys, is the uniform pure malice Of the Football team. There is not a single well developed player On the Football team to make the extreme malice and actions credible except for the One gay team member. The Malice is simply not adequately explained. We are supposed to believe it is an automatic response to The automobile death Of the prior quarterback whom the Story reveals to be only barely adequate at his position, losing every game, and a homophonic jerk besides. The team wins every game with Jack but still hates her/them. I know of no sports team that ever voluntarily threw away a winning season. The author needs to explain this and perhaps having a few well developed characters On the team might have pulled it off. Anyway the final game is adequately rendered (the only one to merit a description) and one roots for Jack and Amber, but as a whole the Story does not succeed.

Loved this

This hit home as a student athlete that was stuck in the closet in high school. I really liked both points of view to give the reader a better understanding of each character’s internal struggle. Loved the Bi mom!

bigotry has no place in this world

I can't wait until these horrible ways of thinking are not normal and we don't have to worry about folks have to hide themselves. I love this story and I thought the main characters were real and not over dramatized for the story.

Brave characters!

I loved this because of the great representation of queer identities and the story is definitely worth a listen. It is so relatable as someone who lives in an area that is not diverse or welcoming. The bravery of the characters is very heartwarming!

Gold Medal winner of the Woke Olympics.

As part of the over 300 titles I have purchased, I try to avoid authors who push their political agenda as main stream in their fictional stories. The characters in this story are expertly created and their individual stories are well spun and intersect perfectly. In fact I bought this book because Lori Prince narrates it, (My all time Fav) or at least partially. That said, the author has strategically, placed every SJW objective from Intersectionality, gender fluidity, and microaggressions into every aspect of every character. So, not my cup of tea, and a waste of 12 bucks. I will avoid this author in the future. I would remind the author that over 3 million, open minded, LGBTQ+, (and their supporters), who live in the American South, enjoy an amazing a porridge made from boiled cornmeal called Grits. White, Black, Brown or Yellow, and we love them. It's food. Not a "Micro-Aggression".
