Publisher's summary

Maggie Vine felt like the luckiest girl in the world. Life was perfect, until it wasn't.

When Maggie left her small-town Alabama home, she never thought she would return. Fourteen years later, Maggie finds herself driving back toward the town that she's missed and the people she abandoned; toward Rusty.

Rusty Jefferson was Maggie's best friend and first love, but she'd driven away in the middle of the night without a good-bye. Broken-hearted, the sweet boy everyone loved became hard and cold; closed off to the world, refusing to be hurt that way ever again. Now, she's back, right in front of them all, determined to rebuild the life she lost. Maggie sets about trying to build bridges and heal old wounds, but the secret that took her away all those years ago just refuses to stay buried, that secret, could destroy everything all over again.

Can Maggie get back what she once had? Can Rusty ever forgive her betrayal? There's only one place she can find out, the place she calls "home".

An emotional roller coaster of a listen

I liked this book. I thought it was a good story line. I thought for the most part it was very well written. this book is worth the credit!!! The pain, the emotions, heartbreak, relationships. So well developed. I devoured each and every word of Maggie and Rusty and Daniel!! I liked the pace of the story. Cassandra P. Lewis is an amazing author and hopefully there is a second book in the making can wait to see what she write's next

high angst and loads of selfishness

I was beyond proud when Maggie's dad gave her some straight talk! Rusty was much more level headed, honest, and had more integrity than Maggie. I liked that Rusty showed he's only human and faltered for a minute. The epilogue was the best part imo. It gave me feels the whole story didn't. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did female voices well enough but didn't do justice to the male parts at all.

An emotional rollercoaster

Home is an epic and emotional journey about second chances. A rollercoaster ride of emotions through an intricate, complex, and deep story. The title couldn't be more perfect!

I was only told it was a cowboy, small-town romance. But it is so much more. So if I'm being honest, I went in blind and didn't know what I was getting myself into. But that's ok because I would have never guessed where this book would take me and how it would make me feel.

Maggie returns to the place she left fourteen years ago. But as her life crumbles, Maggie finds herself driving toward her hometown in Alabama, a place she never thought she would see again but that could offer the change she desperately needs. As soon as she gets there, she has to face the devastation she caused by leaving and the relationships she broke.

Rusty always thought Maggie was his forever. It had been clear since they were kids. He never expected her to leave and cut all forms of communication. And now that she is back, he can't forget her betrayal and the pain she caused.

Normally, I would go on and on about the plot. But this book deserves to be experienced as things happen in life: unexpectedly, in a non-linear matter, and with reasons hopefully making sense at some point. I'm probably doing a terrible job at explaining myself! But this is a story that feels real. It's heartbreaking yet beautiful. It talks about trust, making mistakes, questioning purpose in life, and realizing that sometimes the road is hard and long, but you will eventually end up where you are supposed to be.

Hats off to Amy Jo Steele for the outstanding narration!

Fantastic Story & Listen🎧 Riveting & Heartfelt!

This is a beautiful romance, a second chance to love and live again. Cassandra P. Lewis is a gifted author, I enjoyed her writing style, the storylines she created are captivating from start to end. The characters are realistic and easy to relate to. I adored both lead characters, Maggie Vine and Rusty Jefferson, childhood friends who, in their teenage years took their relationship a step further and fell in love. Their relationship came to an abrupt end when Maggie and her family moved away, no explanation not further contact. Her leaving did not just break his heart, it broke him too. Maggie had her reason for more moving, thinking she was doing the right thing but it took her 15 years to realize it may not have been the right thing, she was never really happy since leaving her life and friends in that small town. She finds her way back there, to make mends and to possibly get back what she gave up, happiness, love, friendship and that feeling of being home again. But nothing is that simple and not all are forgiving and accepting her with open arms. Rusty finally starts to warm up to the idea of her being back but he does not think he can trust her to not break his heart again and when she reveals why she left she breaks him again. I was really rooting for these two, hoping they would put aside their differences and make it work. I loved how everything plays out in this book, it is well plotted and there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, angst, many emotional and heartfelt moments, so twists and turns in life, fate has a funny way of working things out. There are some great secondary and support characters in this book too, loved Jason and Daisy, I was happy to see they got an HEA too. Cassandra P. Lewis, thank you for this wonderful story and the emotional rollercoaster ride, I hope to see more of your work on Audible soon.

Amy Jo Steele is a wonderful narrator and voice artist. She did a fantastic job portraying the characters, bringing them to life, giving each their own voice and personalty. You could hear how much heart she puts into her work as she captures the character’s emotions and projects them into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this fabulous listen🎧
