Kevin Theis is the real deal

As a friend, I've seen Kevin act. I've been honored to share a stage or two with him -- once, even. when he played Sherlock Holmes.

But he nevertheless astonishes me with his ability to disappear into a character. Here, he disappears into several, and it's a delight.

Great listening for Holmes fans.

Unusual and interesting

Presented in an unusual way, the first part of the book is, as the title says, an evening in Baker Street. Holmes announce to Watson his intention to retire to Sussex and the two friends chat amiably about their long partnership, reminiscing old cases and talking about themselves, while old friends and acquaintances come to visit.

I particularly liked Lestrade's visit and see the obvious respect that has grown between them in all those years working together :D

After this, there are two short stories, 'The Loch Ness Affair' and 'An Essex Adventure' which are inconclusive in their endings, but interesting nevertheless.

Kevin Theis does a great job with the narration.

Best narration by far!

What made the experience of listening to Holmes and Watson: An Evening in Baker Street the most enjoyable?

The outstanding voice work by Kevin Theis made this a truly delightful experience. I've listened to many books on Audible, and Theis is, by far, the best narrator and actor I have heard.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Holmes was probably my favorite character, though there were so many others, it's a tough call. Wiggins and Inspector Robertson were fun - loved their accents!

Have you listened to any of Kevin Theis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, several others. This was one of his best because of his incredible voice characterizations and accents. It was almost more radio play than narration. You had a sense of being in the room with the characters.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending of the "Loch Ness Affair"... "But, Mr. Holmes... Dr. Watson... the paddle steamer did not run, yesterday evening." Cue sinister organ music. Very humorous.

Any additional comments?

A very charming story, made thoroughly enjoyable by Kevin Theis' expert narration.

A good story

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This a story about Holmes preparing to retire to the countryside. It’s funny and much like a Holmes story would go. I did enjoy the plot line. There wasn’t much in the way of a Holmes mystery but it was all good fun.

A great set of Holmes tales

Included here are three tales of Holmes and Watson. They are just as good as the originals and make Wonderful additions to the lore and legends that make up the world of Holmes and Watson. Highly recommend. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Wanted more solving of mysteries.

Had more of a banter between Holmes and Watson than solving cases.

Kevin Theis was all right as a narrator,
