Publisher's Summary

Meet the most powerful witches from around the world! Learn about their lives, their legacy, their secrets, and their powerful spells.

Witches have always worried, scared, and fascinated people in equal measure. From dark magic to home remedies, they have been part of the cultural landscape for people across the world. From Europe to the Americas, Asia to Africa, the idea of women who delve deeply into magic has created some of the most enduring stories in the history of humanity. Often, these stories blend the real with the unreal, truth with fiction, and magic with the mundane. In this book, we will look at witches from across the world and across many thousands of years. But witches are not always welcome. Often, they are feared. People worry about satanic practices and dark magic. Should a child fall sick, it is not uncommon for people to blame a local woman. Many have been falsely accused of witchcraft throughout history and, sometimes, these people have been killed as a result. Sometimes, even the rumored practice of dark magic can be enough to condemn a person to be burned at the stake. Throughout this book, we will look into the history of witchcraft as it has been practiced by people over the ages. Not only that, but we will look into some of the spells that they relied upon for their power. By studying their specific arts, we can better understand the scope and the power of witchcraft. If you would like to know more about history's most powerful witches, then listen and get to grips with some of the strangest, oddest, most magical, and most twisted tales in human history.

Narrator was PERFECT!

While the book was interesting, informative, and well written- listening to this audible version was nothing less than magical! (See what I did there? ;-) I will be seeking out this narrator in the future. He is fantastic!

Narrator should be doing children's books...

I think I would enjoy this book more if I had read it because the narrator sounded like he waa reading a children's book to a group of VERY young children. It's just his style of narration. When I listened on my phone without earbuds, it sounded almost ok otherwise, but if I plugged in earbuds or connected my phone to my car, the sibilants were horrid! Each time he pronounced an S, T, soft C or any other similar sounds, it was almost like he was whistling painfully. You can still hear the when listening on the phone aloud but they aren't near as bad, though there are still some cringe-worthy moments. I love books like this but it was hard for me to finish because of this painful whistling sound.

Fun read if you are into Witch history.

I enjoyed that it had spells and how to do them after each story. Its sad that so many witches use magik for evil doings but, again it's part of history. I wished it were longer.

The narrator was a little cheesy, tho.
