History of Woman Suffrage is a window into the suffragette movement, a front-row seat to the fight for women’s rights. This historic work draws a dramatic picture of the massive effort and struggle that took place in America from 1848 to 1861 through letters and documents, as well as uncensored thoughts and ideas from women during this evolving time, all rich with lively wit. The writing is vivid and compelling, with rousing speeches defending the legitimacy of the request for suffrage and strong, witty defense against those too comfortable in the status quo. Documented in great detail through primary sources, notes, letters, newspapers, and journals, this first volume spans 40 years of key insight into the suffrage movement.
Originally compiled and edited by Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Suzy B. Anthony, and Matilda Joselyn Gage, History of Woman Suffrage, Volume 1 starts from the very beginning. Now available as an audiobook for the first time, History of Woman Suffrage is even more poignant today. As the effort for true women’s equality continues for us, we can listen to our foresisters make history in the face of what they overcame.

It is a documentary of the first ~20 years of the woman suffrage movement in the USA, written by the women themselves who led the movement at the time.
We have always said “we stand on the shoulders of the women who have come before us, and it is our job to carry their torches for future generations”. This book helped me realize just how big their shoulders were and the challenges we face pale in comparison to what they faced.
It has inspired me to keep going and not be deterred by challenges, frustration or disappointment.
Together we must carry on in honor of the women who came before us, in service of the next generations of women to come.
Outstanding - the journey to Women’s equality is a story we all should know
