Great overview of Prussia

I always assumed Prussia won its independence from Russia as a kid. similar names are misleading. I liked that this book started long before Frédéric the Great. It does a great job putting some meat on the bones of Prussia's story for you to digest.

Quick and distinct history of Prussia

This book continues Captivating History's chain of excellent works of history. The book covers all aspects of the history of Prussia from origins to the death of it after WWII. Jason Zenobia does an excellent job narrating the book, as usual.

the entire book is excellent and I especially liked the chapter on the 30 years war and the chapter on Napoleon.

Clear and engaging history of Prussia

This history of Prussia was very concise and engaging, filled with surrounding context of the other major powers over the span of time. I was glad to have this telling of Prussia's story as I had only really heard it from the perspective of the Hapsburg or other histories mainly.

The performance is always solid from Jason Zenobia but his continued mispronunciation of fiefdom and fief in this and other Audible books always distracts me. It's a FEEF-dom not a Barney Fifedom! ;)

in the middle of everything

fascinating history of a group of peoples who struggled to find their own place, while stuck between other nations and empires fighting each other over resources and religion.

eventually they'd build up their own strength and become viable competition themselves. however, playing sides (or no sides) in order to reap the benefits, would eventually lead to their downfall and subsequent non-existence.
