Lack luster

The story kept my interest throughout the entire book. However I kept hoping she would just leave the son of a B. The ending is lack luster and ends with a thud. It could have been a lot better. The characters are interesting and the dialogue is good. Again...the story just never really ends...which is not great.

Not a psychological thriller

I listened expecting this to be twisty and dark. Although, twisty in it's own way, it was not thrilling. I will say it makes an interesting statement about relationships, honesty and expectations

WOW...WELL DONE

You know those stories that you can’t judge until you’ve heard all the facts? On the surface, you think one thing but when you dig deeper, it’s another. Well, this book is exactly that. Filled with the right amount of drama to keep you interested while absolutely knowing this scenario could actually happen. Must read!

Pathetic women

The most pathetic weak women I’ve ever encountered in a book of this genre! And the ending was horrible! I think I speak for a majority of the listeners when I say that we needed a certain someone to end up alone and sad! The only good thing about this book was Georgia Maguire!

Engrossing

If there was a mysterious love story, this is it. The twists & turns kept it from being cliche and the surprise ending kept it real. Highly recommended.

Another Lucy Dawson hit!

This book was engaging and easy to get wrapped up in. It did not turn out at all like I expected. I love the plot twists and turns of Lucy Dawson books and this was no exception!

Great narrator

... and I chose the book for the narrator, knowing Georgia from BA Paris’ books. This story is nowhere near the gripping suspense, so, disappointing.

Good easy listening, suspense thriller

Lucy Dawson's thrillers are usually about relationships and families rather than murders, always told from the woman's perspective. This is no exception. In this book, our hero, Mia finds evidence that her significant other is having a relationship with somebody else. The suspense is about whether she will manage to get rid of her partner's other woman and keep him for herself. Mia starts doing things that partly make you think she might be a little deranged herself, and partly make you anxious to find out whether she will get away with it - not unlike a soap opera. Towards the end, we get a few changes in direction, raising the tension somewhat as you would expect from a good thriller. At times though it did begin to border on a Whitehall farce. I liked the last couple of lines of the book. A good final twist. Like Lucy Dawson's other books (White Lies, The Memory, The Daughter, Everything You Told Me), I found this held my attention right from the start and all through the book. It was easy to follow without too much concentration, not to many characters, but just enough to keep the listener's attention. I wasn't conscious of any out-of-place mannerisms from the narrator, Georgia Maguire. On that basis I reckon she did a really good job. There are some awful edits in the sound though.

Laugh Out Loud Funny And Very Sad

This isn’t my usual type of book, I bought it in a 2 for 1 offer and I’m more crime and thrillers normally, but I really enjoyed it. It made me laugh out loud at times but I also felt the main character’s pain. I thought it well written and extremely well read, the narrator’s dead pan delivery was perfect for the funny parts. I particularly enjoyed the restaurant scenario, I’m sure it’s one most women will recognise!

Mediocre

Predictable and quite shallow story. Well performed but no depth to the characters. Easy listen but hardly a psychological thriller!

Brilliant Book but strange ending???

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it was so intriguing!! It kept my interest throughout. Mia's plan was so clever and devious, she was almost as bad as the character, Villanelle in Killing Eve!! Some of it was quite comical. The twist in the tale was unexpected. I just thought that the ending was a bit strange and it really needed an extra chapter or an epilogue. Great book though and I would recommend it. Great narration too, but I do agree that some of the editing was bad. Whenever the narrator said 'Pete', it somehow sounded like 'EET'' A lot of her words seemed to be cut off at the beginning of the word - it was strange but didn't put me off the book. RECOMMENDED.

Good!

This is a good story, with a satisfying ending. The characters are well drawn. The main protagonist is not sympathetic and I really did not like her, but that’s fine. The narrator generally did a good job, but, at times it was obvious when she had left the work and returned, and some words were cut off!

I enjoyed this book all the way up to the very last line...and the ending was such a disappointment...it just went flat! Great performance by Georgia Maguire, as always.

Sad for all 3 characters and occasionally funny

The clapometer swung from left to right throughout. from love to hate. Three tragic characters. I loved them and hated them. Twisted nest of lies, interwoven with hope of happiness but sadly a reflection, possibly diluted, of many lives. Of lovers and cheating.

Waste of time.

Don’t bother the story is very weak. The ending is terrible! Was waiting for something to happen and it never did. Give it a miss.
