Publisher's Summary

Fleeing an obsessed suitor, Fiona MacEnroy rides recklessly into Scotland's wildest hills and is captured by a horde of well-armed men. Instead of battling for her life, she finds herself swept away by a powerful stranger and carried off to a remote, forbidding keep. Oddly, here at Scarglas, a place shrouded in mystery and the black reputation of the rogue clan MacFingal, Fiona feels a strange, comforting sense of safety…and a consuming passion for its rugged laird.

Spellbound by Fiona's beauty yet determined to fight the longing she ignites, Ewan MacFingal plots to ransom Fiona back to her kin. Sworn to protect his eccentric clan against the dangers invading Scarglas, he refuses to be weakened by the power of a woman whose every glance and touch tell him that she is everything his heart desires. Now, as pride and passion war within, dark peril and forbidding secrets will force them to trust what has yet to be spoken-the unshakable power of a timeless love.

Great read

All of these story's are predictable and similar. Even so I can't stop listening and I keep coming back. I try other books but aside from Diana Gabaldon, Sara Donati and Julie Garwood, (who are my absolute favorites) I keep coming back to Hannah Howell.

Fantastic book.

Great book. My only complaint is that there is no epilogue. I REALLY wanted one for this book.

Really enjoyed it

Even though every Murray story is the same with only the names changed, I still have loved everyone except for Peyton’s. Skip that one

I love the story... the reading was ugh

I really do not like how she reads, it is quite whiny and she has a lot of mispronunciations! I can barely stand it. At first I thought she just had a bad Scottish accent, but then she just says things in an English accent without correct pronunciations. She says Sigimor’s name as Seymor it is terrible! How the hell do you mispronounce that? She totally renamed the character. If you are a stickler for pronunciations and having your character’s keep their names, I do not recommend this reading. I read it in a Scottish accent in my head and it is way better. It is also very high pitched.

WARNING: Horrible Narration

I have all Hannah Howell’s books and this is one of my favorites. I highly recommend the normal books but not the audio books if performed by Angela Dawe. Her voice doesn’t carry the right tone to give these books justice and causes me to cringe when listening. I had much higher expectations and now wish I’d listened to a preview or read the reviews before wasting a credit.

Scars are only skin deep

Ewan & Fiona Scared by similar and yet different situations fate puts these two together. I think this is such a wonderful story of beauty being within a person and not so much on the outwardly. I also love the part that we meet the MacFingles and I also love seeing the Cameron’s again. The comedy in this story knows no bounds. Another great story!

Highland Warrior

This story in the series is about Fiona who was running from a mad mad who has marked her face and body as his. The scars were what sent many a man away from her now that she has them. But when she is captured by a man who was also scarred by similar wounds. Ewan is torn with wanting to keep her or have her family pay a ransom to get her return. But her mad man and his past crash into their lives until there is only one solution is met. Will they have their own happy ending like her brother and sister in law? Or will they forever have a lonely life. The narrator kept me listen to the very end.

worst narrator ever

ugh I CANNOT handle the narrator. Davina Porter and Elizabeth Klett set the bar so high, this lady kills me. I've listened to the entire Outlander series and was looking for something similar. thia was TORTURE. I wish I could get my credit back update: I finished the book and the narrator grew on me, but I'll still probably avoid her readings in the future

I had to read the kindle version

Everyone likes different narrators for different reasons but Angela Dawe is one I just can’t listen to. It’s something about the way she reads I can’t deal with . I have so many audio books that she narrates... don’t know what I was thinking. The story itself is the 9 th in Murray Family series. It’s a good book to read but not listen to, for me anyway.
