Raleigh’s story is the goodie in this bunch

I didn’t care enough for “Kiss of the Vampire” by Hannah Howell to stick with it so jumped to story 2 after just a couple chapters. I guess I only really like Howell’s Wherlocke series as everything else I’ve tried by her I’ve quit. I was turned off by “His Eternal Bride” by Adrienne Basso and jumped ahead as soon as she met him outside the privy. I am not a prude but geez, were we supposed to like “slutty Elvira’s” introduction? Bleerg. At that point I almost quit then but decided to try the Raleigh’s “To Tame the Beast” just to be able to give a full review. So glad I did. It was sweet, and has made me want to look for more by Raleigh. The narrator didn’t grow on me so much as become inevitable, but I can’t say I’ll be deliberately seeking her out again, or that I won’t be discouraged against another book with her as narrator. I felt her accent was too heavy and overblown, trying too hard; and occasionally leant closer to Jamaica more than Scotland. I will give it to her that her old woman voice was good, and she did do better when she had better writing to work with (Raleigh’s).

I have become addicted to MacNachton Vampires😊

Some might say these stories become predictable, I have to admit I like the stories regardless. I love that they have such happy endings.
