Publisher's Summary

Framed for a crime he did not commit, Duncan Campbell, the illegitimate son of a chieftain, has returned to the Highlands, determined to clear his name after ten years in exile. He is drawn to the unforgettable sensual beauty of Jeannie Gordon, the headstrong girl who once pledged him her love, gave him her innocence, and then betrayed him. Now, in the glow of the moonlight, she defiantly shows Duncan the bad end of a pistol.

Jeannie is stunned to discover that the broad-chested brigand she just shot is the rogue who broke her heart years ago. No longer a starry-eyed girl but a woman with dangerous secrets, Jeannie cannot forgive Duncan's shattering mistrust of her - nor can she sign his death warrant by turning him in. Soon passion flares hotter and bolder than before, sealing a fate the one-time lovers can no longer deny. Caught up in a deadly game of murder and intrigue, Jeannie is willing to risk everything for a man and a love she vows never to lose again.

Extremely unromantic

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A different leading male character entirely!

What do you think your next listen will be?

Highland pleasures series.

What three words best describe Roger Hampton???s voice?

Deep, sexy, well inflected.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Highland Scoundrel?

Particular scenes were not the problem. It was Duncan's character in general that was reprehensible.

Any additional comments?

Authors, if you are going to make your lead male characters moody, disloyal, forever leaving, forever thinking the worst of your female characters, you had better be sure you have the skill to COMPLETELY redeem them. I got so sick of seeing Jeannie suffer because Duncan COULD NOT develop any kind of resolve to stay with her! Not sexy. Not admirable. Not romantic to be an angry, always-leaving kind of guy!

Couldn't Put This Down

The action starts at the beginning and then you are taken on a ride. There is so much distrust and misunderstanding and it makes you wonder how any to people can get together. This book will not disappoint.

Best of the Three Book Series!

Quite a build-up to an exciting climax. This was the best of the series. Although the story stands alone, get Books 2 and 3 first and read the stories of others that lead up to this thrilling outcome.

Enjoyed the Series

This series got better as it went, each book was better than the one before. I think it is because it was like more and more pieces of a puzzle that came together in this final book. I also like that McCarty sprinkles her historical books with some factual stuff which makes it all the more interesting. Worth the credits.
