Publisher's Summary

Nigel Murray saw through her masquerade from the start: a young woman trying to pass herself off as a page. It almost worked - until she was unmasked in battle with the English, at the point of a sword. Nigel recklessly saved the raven-haired beauty, whose secrets now endangered them both. He spirited her off to Scotland, determined to erase the terror he tasted in her kiss.

Gisele knew the dark side of men, having barely escaped the brutality of her highborn husband, Lord Deveau. Now, with Deveau murdered and a price on her head, she was every man's prey - hunted for a crime she did not commit. Nigel is her only refuge, a handsome stranger who challenged her with a fiery sensuality that burned all fear in its wake. But to truly trust him, Gisele must put the past behind her, and let her heart accept the simple truth... of his undying love.

Liked the narrator...

Wanted to like the story but couldn't bring myself to like Giselle enough to. Thought she was arrogant, entitled, couldn't keep her mouth shut, and yes I did feel she did not deserve to go through what she did but even her family disliked her and turned their back on her. The only thing I like was the narrator, I thought she did a good job with all the characters.

More love and adventure in the highlands.

I loved the story. This author weaves a tale that keeps you with her to the end. There's intrigue as well as passion and romance to spare. Loved it!

Ahhh Nigel!

This is Nigel's story, we met him in book 1. He pisses me off sometimes, but its good. I enjoyed the story line of this one, though I must say I liked the first book more. Definitely worth the credit. Eric's book is next and I am anticipating it!

Murray Men, at it Again!

This is the 2nd book of the Highland Series featuring the Murray brothers,It's 7 years later as we learn what happened to Nigel since he left Donncoill after losing Maldie to his brother Balfour.
Nigel becomes a mercenary, offering his sword and fighting skills to any French lord who pays the most. But when he wakes up one morning to find himself sprawled in the mud, having spent all night boozing with no recollection of how he got there, he knew it was time for him to go home and face reality. While deep in thoughts, he hears voices and checks to see whom they belong to. He spots two people deep in conversation but knew instantly that the one dressed like a lad is a woman.

Gisele Deveau is a hunted woman. Falsely accused of the gruesome death (no really GRUESOME) of her wealthy husband, she has been running away for a whole year. When Nigel ends up saving her life, she knows that he is her only hope.

Realizing that Gisele's life is in extreme danger, Nigel is overcome with the need to protect her, especially when he learns that she is pretty much on her own. And although she fears men in general Gisele has little choice but to trust the man who has entangled himself in her troubles.

Little do they know that they would be faced with another trouble: that of their growing attraction to each other. Nigel is torn and confused about what he feels for Giselle who looks very much like Maldie, his sister in law - and the reason he left home in the first place. While Gisele is terrified to put her trust in another man after what she has experienced at the hands of her husband.

Gisele is a likable heroine, very similar to Maldie but with a sharper tongue. Both characters are strong and well-matched and as passionate as the first book's characters. I

The homecoming scene was one of my favourites

A little silly

I thought Gizelle was an idiot for a lot of the story. Angela Dawe saved it for me with her performance.

The Devoe, For This I Cut My Hair

Audible Escape
Shame on me for not getting booked two after book one! Book 1 is a little dry and I thought that book 2 would be in the same vein. I have read out of order thinking that the publisher summaries on some of the other books were much more clever by the author. Had I listened to this book much earlier I would have appreciated the earlier books much better as I am now. This dialogue from our heroine is absolutely great, and Giselle is the backbone of the Murray woman clan spunk to come in the later books.
I love books 5, 6 and 10. Miss Dawe foreign accents Scottish brogue or French is wonderful. Sir Nigel wit is a carry over from book 1. I do use 1.25x speed to match the adventure. Give it a try.

Highlander Hero

Nigel and Gisele
Nigel running from feelings for his brothers wife, Gisele running for her life after being wrongfully accused for her husbands death. What could go wrong? H thinks he is in love with a woman he cannot have and she has been sorely abused and has no room for live or the touch of a man. Can these two find each other as they are chased all the way to Scotland? Such a great story!
Loved every minute and Angela Dawe does a great job narrating.
